Also we have to be careful about using american typewriter or any typewriter face as the UK charity Shelter, used to use a similar font for their logo:

I agree, baskerville not quite literal enough. The trouble I've had in the past with shelter oriented id's is not identifying a specific structure, like a house, apartment building etc. Para nailed the lean-to idea, that to me is the most universal symbol for basic shelter, and especially since we want this to communicate a few different levels of meaning we have to be a bit more illustrative I reckon..
good call on the already used typerwriter, although I knew I was on the right track, thus it being already in use...
I am thinking serif for this, I agree the party aspect needs to be there, but I don't want this id to 'scream' I think it's a sensitive issue that needs to feel a bit like a whisper and a nod, if that makes sense...

Hey Snuggs.
Really like the general styling.
Always hard to depict a negative subject matter such as women in need. Perhaps focus on the helping aspect of the charity.
Sorry for the vagueness.

we need to still explore other directions, but thanks honest...

I thought I'd throw up something I was looking at yesterday, snuggs has already seen an incarnation.
Based on the idea that this concert will be providing 'shelter through music' – both literally as in the concert venue in the middle of winter, and also safe housing for those benefitting from Refuge's work:

Nice Baskerville.
Can we add some colour?
- Baskerville0
sure, I always do things in black & white first to see if they work, same with the type. Use AG until something better comes along.
have a play, still work in progress.

very clever, baskerville. i'd like to see a different face, but that's just me.

much better baskerville!

Hey great idea baskerville. The type gets a little lost at small sizes though, perhaps put it on two decks?

(Oct 19 06, 02:31)thanks, like I said, it's just an idea, not really 'designed' yet. Colour, typeface/type positioning are all open to debate, obviously.

Just a bit too serious.
Maybe you can style it like a hand-stamp you get at gigs?
- mr_snuggles0
just make it bigger and shinier and we're good to go...
