i haven't read too far into this thread but i assume your poor hd is still deceased.
i've been there too and it's a terrible experience... at least that's one way to put it. It Fucking Sucks! is yet another way to put it.

aw, i'm so glad this thread devolved into nudity and bumlove and the posting of 'the song'.
i'm not scared, though. i'm going to take it in myself to the mac people in the 'burbs saturday morning and demand satisfaction (not that kind of satisfaction, you perverts, put it away).

Shit, sorry to hear that man! I know exactly how your feeling, so I really feel for you! :)
...Same thing happened to me last year, I lost EVERYTHING, not just work, but irreplaceable personal images and all! Heart breaking!
...And to make it even worse, I had a backup of my work on CD... which was in the computer re-writing at the time it crashed... wiping the f***ing CD!!!!!!!!!! (okay I should have had more than one backup, but talk about hard luck!)

When I was at uni, a tutor (who I now hate) gave me free software, which I then installed and which proceeded to fuck my whole computer (twice). The first time I lost all my first year work which was sad, but the second time I had backed most stuff up but still lost loads.
After that I got an external harddrive and back all my stuff up to that every so often (in theory). I haven't backed anything up for about a year (oops) Just thinking about losing this years' work is horrible, not to mention almost a whole album of music that I've recorded.
Your loss has reminded me to back up my work, so take some comfort in the fact that you've helped others.
