lol Nairn!
yeah, para, I lost all my concert pictures, photography, rare downloads, etc, etc.
Even though I've lost things twice and people tell me to backup I may not do it again because HDs are expensive. But I'll probably backup my most important stuff on a DVD.
In my old laptop, my HD was completely gone (no way to recover the data in C:/My Documents, which is where all the important stuff was), and my ENTIRE computer was gone too. Everything, which makes me wonder what the hell monster attacked my laptop. For every part of it to be gone to shit and irrecoverable. And, of course it costs too much to even attempt to fix.

Most of my work is web stuff - and most of that get's stored on the server - which is kinda of a backup.
I upload the PSD's and everything.

i am grateful that the web stuff is all out there! up on the servers!
some of my snaps even, which is good.
i'm uploading psds, docs, everything related to a job from now on. there's no reason not to.

(Oct 11 06, 07:40)Very true. I mostly did web design before too, so I was thankful that ppl just upload that stuff by default, because that's where it goes anyway - on the web. I started uploading more of my documents and pictures onto my web space now.

It's all small too.
Not like print jobs, with huge tiffs n shit.Just make sure you protect those directories on the web server.

In my previous job at one of country's larger web companies the server with assets went down and never recovered. For months almost everytiime a client wanted an edit, we had to recreate psd's or fla's.
Surprisingly, this didn't really seem to affect the workflow.

Go down the pub, get munted and become a recluse for about three days. Change your name address and occupation and you will feel loads better.
I did that and now have 5 friends 2 cats and an annual income of 400 Hexagrams.
Good luck.

I offer sound advice and this is how you repay me.

If you expected it everyday, for example, you would make back ups every half hour.
