Teeuwen, oogjes dicht en snaveltjes toe!
P.S.: promising work, your ajax test. Looks nice. Didn't expect anything else from you :-) Although a little bumpy in FF and Opera on PC, IE works fine - I mean in FF and Opera the content shifts a bit when clicking on the project section, the scrollbar is reloaded every time.

(Sep 7 06, 06:53)wha was it about?
- paraselene0
tony blair's resignation.
thing is, all i was gonna say, ponyboy, is that it ain't quite that simple, things work differently here and it is rather difficult to comprehend if you're familiar with the u.s. political system.
thatcher had to go through the same thing; the p.m. has to stand down so that the party can move forward. it's not really about popularity, although in this case his popularity is one of the reasons that parliament would like him to set a firm date for his departure from office.

Blair confirming his resignation as PM before the next Labour party conference.
I think he was seeing it in a US context (you know, limited terms of office and stuff) but it didn't look incediary to me (not yet anyway)

yeah... i wasn't trying to start a fight or anything... I was merely mentioning that 'resignation' due to public and political pressure probably wouldn't occur over in the states... and that I didn't quite understand really...... para's right... I don't know much about UK politics and political process- I posted the wash. post newstory and thought that a few of you could possibly explain how that 'kind' of pressure can make a man leave such an office as Blair's...
.. Nixon left because he was openly exposed w/corruption in regards to his party's campaigning tactics...
... also... given the 'time of history' we're in... I don't understand why a leader would just 'step down'... it seems very 'weak' to me - because polls and opinions change politically on a dime.
- paraselene0
exactly. we think in terms of limited terms of office, etc. basically, what's going on here is that the guy has to step down as head of the labour party so that they can find a new leader, so it's not like he's being forced out of office by low public opinion, just that he has to be the one to confirm it, like kelpie said.
