thing is, all i was gonna say, ponyboy, is that it ain't quite that simple, things work differently here and it is rather difficult to comprehend if you're familiar with the u.s. political system.
thatcher had to go through the same thing; the p.m. has to stand down so that the party can move forward. it's not really about popularity, although in this case his popularity is one of the reasons that parliament would like him to set a firm date for his departure from office.
