You could allude the stigmata in number 2 with a heart in the hand reaching down. It might be a bit too graphic, but conceptually sound.

3rd seems the best and least problematic.
ditch the second one: people are sick of white hands coming from above to save those of color. grace? more like sublimation... furthermore it is kinda like what uber said: white people saving corpses...
subconscious? probably. offensive to everyone, probably not.i agree with scarabin that the first one looks feminine, kinda like hello kitty...

aaaaaaargh! now i have to toss my neon grace idea.

They look like music cds and or sickers. Too much space happening, should try and condense. I like whats happening in number two but smaller/shorter.

Janne, needs more Buddy Christ.

number two but sort the hands out.

Needs more Sodom and Gomorrah.

List all the terms & mental images associated with grace. Try to find connections between the words.
i wouldn't give up just yet on the notion of a typographic tie-in...

i would def fool around with the typography some more, not quite there yet. also i would try to smooth out your line in illustrator (the middle one) the lines are very angular and sharp.

lemme give it a shot..

I like the middle one. It shows the unity between white people learn and corpses.

look it up in the Bible. Think symbols of grace.

thanks for the advice, gramme. i feel like there is some little piece i'm missing as far as the concept of grace. i'm just not seeing it. this has been kind of a rush rush situation and i wish i had about a month to marinate on it, but i don't.

#333333
#666666oh, not that grace
- gramme0
thanks.
does anyone think there would be any legal entanglements because, as Raind0g pointed out, it looks similar to www.typevsm.com cubanita groove?

(Aug 30 06, 11:14)Legal issues or no, the concept & execution is too similar.
The first two color pallettes are too feminine. Burgundy/brown/etc. is fine and even appropriate if you mix it up with at least one other softer color.
When designing for a church I think staying power needs to be communicated in the logo, and I'm not quite sure you're there. What is this church's vibe? Looks like you're going for contemporary. What denomination?
I'd explore the concept of grace a bit more, I think there's a rich conceptual vein that you've just barely touched...
