My suggestion would be to use softer colors.
I find black and burgundy a little misrepresentative of the word and image of "grace".
The logo images are much more accurate and definitely in the right direction.

good point about the colors. thanks, T-Dawg.

a little corporate for a church, innit? i like the ice-cream on the right though!
anyway, God is business these days, so i appreciate the irony of it.

I like them all. Try curving the corners on the boxes, increase the size of the icons, and bump up the font size of "grace" on the middle logo. New brighter colors please.

thanks, guys. i appreciate it. i've been looking at these for too long.

The blue hand illustration in the middle is very nice. I also love the icon on the right logo. Can I have it?

What kind of church? If its catholic, Id say try working with the heart image on the right. I did something for a project once that made the shape of the heart look like Mary holding the baby jesus. Wouldn't translate as well in most protestant circles though.
cent and a half thrown in.

You haven't been surfing around, looking at Ben Loiz' Cubanita Groove logo?
- ender790
no, but dammit! do you think that's going to be a problem?

the middle one is great - a softer pallet would really drive it home.
nice work

i like no. 3.
no.2 looks like a high five, and no. 1 may be too feminine
- ender790
thanks.
does anyone think there would be any legal entanglements because, as Raind0g pointed out, it looks similar to www.typevsm.com cubanita groove?

question of dignity
- ender790
yeah. i don't feel good about even submitting it knowing that someone else has something that similar.

thanks.

(Aug 30 06, 11:14)Legal issues or no, the concept & execution is too similar.
The first two color pallettes are too feminine. Burgundy/brown/etc. is fine and even appropriate if you mix it up with at least one other softer color.
When designing for a church I think staying power needs to be communicated in the logo, and I'm not quite sure you're there. What is this church's vibe? Looks like you're going for contemporary. What denomination?
I'd explore the concept of grace a bit more, I think there's a rich conceptual vein that you've just barely touched...
