The aclu doesn't impose limits on surveillance, the concept of liberty and the rights granted by the constitution do.

It's the ACLU's interpretation of the consitituion and their dismissal and denial of our being at war. There has never been so many military secrets revealed (NY Times). We are the only country who throws military secrets on the front page. We do more damage to ourselves then the terrorists do because of our media.
I never thought I would see the day where liberals defend the media.

you're joking right? balance? between what exactly? the aclu wouldnt have to protect our rights if they werent so flagrantly disregarded in the face of manufactured danger. maybe a change in our belligerent foreign policies would do some good.

If it wasn't for the ACLU, you'd have the gestapo knocking on your door and drag you off to 'protective custody' for the good of the nation.
They defend conservatives with extreme views, too, you know. I can't really think of a more patriotic institution than the ACLU.
