I don't go to their door, telling them that I love drinking, and asking them to open their hearts to booze.
I usually pass out on their sidewalk before I can get there.

NYNY... you know a few?...
... you live on the 'other side' of the Brooklyn bridge per-chance (not the manhattan side) ?

the designer i used to work with is in poland right now for a huge jw thing. she keeps it to herself for the most part. i worked with her for 5 years. very cool girl.
one very odd thing that happened once was that i was at an all night press check and rolled into my apt complex at about 8am. and i see her in the parking lot with another jw looking to bang on some doors..
it was very surreal

you most certainly can get under their skin:
- PonyBoy0
restless...
... those are not JW's in that video.
- restlessdesign0
though it does look as though it could have been staged.
- PonyBoy0
and no... you can't really get under thier skin...
... their the most 'faithful', connected, organized and continuitous religious organization out there. I say 'continuituos' meaning: No matter where you go IN THE WORLD... you will hear the same message... no divisions, no sects etc.

*wonders if flagellum learnt about 'hermeneutics' in sunday school this week.

For that same reason people call them a cult. Also, for that same reason if you know their publications/theology you can stump them, and in turn piss them right off.
- PonyBoy0
that's neat, Mimio... but...
... i guarantee you're not 'pissing them off'.
:)
and yes... I feel confident saying 'Guarantee'.
- Mimio0
Sorry, I know a few personally. They get pissed from time to time, even to point where they might get reproved for comments they make about it.
- skelly_b0
pipe down ponyboy. your guarantees are no good here.
- skelly_b0
I have known a few... they all seem to be into cheese sandwiches. Wierd. I think it has something to do with Jesus.

i'll 'pipe down' if you do a little research instead of saying silly things like that. :)so far - ya'll are relating your experiences w/the few you've been in contact with... and it sounds like the 'contact' was rather minimal at that...

By defintion a "cult" is a religion or sect under the guidance of a man.
Therefore, JWs are no cult.

They believe that ever since Christ's invisible kingdom rule was established in 1914, there has been a window opened to the faithful JW's who have a relationship with [their] jesus. These faithful [the 144,000 mentioned in the book of Revelation] will actually live with Christ in "heaven", which in their theology, is going to be a seperate realm from earth. The remaining JW's will serve Jehovah on a restored paradise earth.
The biggest problem with this interpretation of the 144,000 number is that the passage in Revelation specifically says that this is comprised of 12,000 faithful jews from each of the 12 tribes of Israel. So, the hermeneutical error they make is to allegorize the the literal tribes mentioned, but take literally the 144,000 number and apply it to their organization's followers.

(Aug 9 06, 10:30)hey flagellum, since i am on a peace mission here and all, but not religious and always argueing against you, i must admit i value your knowledge in the field of theology.
thx man.

this is awkward... how do you go about discussing this when you're such a hypocrite in real life? (at least I'm 'DF'ed' right now on my own accord... some of you may get me)... :)
... (working on a 'fix').... :)
