what is a facist?

It's curious how people, like the belligerent child above, have to compartmentalize groups of people in order to feel secure about their position and to try and understand people of opposing viewpoints. i.e.
Right-Wing-Fundamentalist-Bible... etc...
ahhh, if only reality were that neat and clean. Some of us see through the rhetoric though and understand how the real world works.
- mrdobolina0
Does this real world you speak of include your imaginary friend?
- flagellum0
Oh, I don't have any of those, mrdobolina. ;)
- Mimio0
A (w)hol(e)y imagined narrative framework more like it. When a significant portion of the population thinks the "here and now" pails in importance to a fantasy world, you're bound to have conflicts.

(Aug 23 06, 10:34)What do you call two republicans with a sense of humor? Liberetarians. Sometimes they get shit so wrong. Like their alcoholic episode. Their big message was "you just need to drink less and learn moderation". What a load of bs. Lushes get a different feeling from booze than normal folk. I mean who the fuck drinks scope? Besides Kitty Dukakis of course.
They're funny as hell but sometimes they come off as opinionated children.

i think you can be a christian without a political agenda...
its funny how it seems there is so much hate and talking madness... is it towards the republicans or christians?
I'm a christian and i'm just like WHOA, you guys are so angry!
- flagellum0
but you may want to ask the multitude of brilliant theologians, scientists, scholars, etc... who find the evidence for a personal deity to be compelling, the same question. :)
- Mimio0
Who's angry? Just pointed observations from me. I like challenging those ideas. They're vital questions these days.
- flagellum0
it is essential to challenge ideas. But people here to learn to challenge the ideas, not attack the people who hold them.
I particularly like challenging the idea that anything in this world matters and is worth taking a stand on either way, if we are simply the accidental product of chance & necessity.
- Mimio0
Yeah, I guess. To each his own. You won't find many Young Earthers winning the Nobel prize though, you'll find them engaged in political debate somewhere I'm sure. It's a more fitting arena for their purposes.
- flagellum0
Interesting you mention the nobel prize, mimio:
http://www.uncommondescent.com/i…
"...Yet during the supposedly benighted decades between 1925 and 1957, American schools produced more Nobel Prize winners than the rest of the world put together. And in physiology and medicine—the fields that should have been most stunted by a neglect of Darwinism—the U.S. produced fully twice as many Nobel laureates as all other countries combined. Obviously, biomedical science does just fine without Darwinism."
What does the age of the earth have to do with anything?

I don't meet to many young-earthers anyways, since my focal point has been the Intelligent Design movement and it's proponents.
- Mimio0
Talk about taking somewthing out of context for your purposes.
What about Watson, Wilkons, Crick..they discovered the structure of DNA they worked on top of Darwinian principles. One of the greatest discoveries of American and world science ever.
- mrdobolina0
I just can't understand how someone can believe we all came from Adam and Eve and Noah loaded up his ark with 2 of everything on the planet and then tell me that I am not living in the real world.
ok, dude.
- flagellum0
um, Mimio... Watson & Crick provided the foundation for the ID movement with their discovery of the double helix. DNA is specified information which codes ribosomes. It's a programming code. Codes wrapped within codes actually.
Where is the Darwinism in that equation? Are you regurgitating special interest leftist news sites again? You silly you.
- Mimio0
...besides we're talking about a voting population that wants to legislate morality based upon supernatural beliefs and a administration willing to placate them. Not evolution vs. creationism.
- flagellum0
any port in a storm, mimio. it's ok, i'm used to it with you.
I wasn't talking about evolution vs. creationism (for the record even Young Earth Creationists believe in speciation from lesser phyla - do your homework).
And I think the core issue is whether or not morality has absolutes or is purely subjective.
