England is overpriced and by and large overrated. I've spent much of my life in Germany and the last 10 years back in the UK and I'd much rather live in Germany.
I guess it depends what you want, London isn't going to be better than any big city and if it's city living you want, why not try somewhere nice and warm like Barca?

i think that snuggs might be insinuating that london can be dirty, crowded, intense and stressful.
this is partially true, but it depends on how you design your lifestyle. there are ways to live in the city that can be peaceful and enjoyable, but you have to have a fair bit of knowledge about the place in order to avoid that sort of thing (eg: rush hour tube journeys, evil smelly cramped flats, oxford circus at any time of the day or year, etc.).
it's all avoidable, though.

three main reasons i got london on my mind now:
- job opp's
- city never bores
- some people speak english there (unlike barca)

i'm in another serious honeymoon phase with the place lately. i'm not sure i can bring myself to move away from here. not even over the course of the next decade...
you really should just come for a visit, janne. have a look at flats and see what the prices are, visit some different neighbourhoods and figure out which ones suit you and, of course, sample all the delights of london living that you'd get to enjoy on a continual basis (i won't go into them here, but i could list you the amazing institutes and organisations for hours).
that's the only way you'll start to get an idea of whether or not you could hack it.

It's always going to be hard to make projected decisions about stuff, but like everywhere, it's rough and smooth and how you direct your lifestyle.
Come for a trip and have a look / do folio touting and maybe give it six months – but the thing is, six months after I lived here I was havimng nowhere near as much fun as I am now after three years and it's still getting better.
If you don't like the city life you can always live outside but anything out of zone 3 just isn't worth it. No point coming to a city to live in the suburbs!
Also, the design scene over here is always going to be hot if you get your folio to the right people and the stream of opportunities is always growing.
Plus you'll be hard pushed to find a better variety of music in one place.
Wicked, I LOVE IT!

daveo is absolutely right about the timing thing. london doesn't really pick up for you until you've done the hard graft for 2 - 2.5 years. but then it gets stellar!

Unles of course you're Zak Kyes, in which case all bets are off (lucky bastard).
The techno here is pretty hot toight now too!

London has its good and bad points some people are bitter it didn't work out for them. Those people can go live somewhere that is equa-distance to Norwich (to quote Alan Partridge) There is so much oppotunity here that you won't get else where.
