speak of the devil
fresh from my inbox
note the address at the bottom of the page in the gray 202.102... etc
that's the "link to" address when hovering over "click here to change password"
so, i'm pretty sure it's bullshit, that, along with it's "high priority"
however, i commend the scammers on their ability to make an html email, a feat many NTers have not yet accomplished.

I get lots of spamorama from eBay and Paypal, but it gets filtered into my junk mail folder so it never gets through. But yeah, I definitely feel for those people who don't know enough to not click on those links and give their personal info away. A lot of those emails look legit until you look really close.

I didn't read the whole thread, but did you fall for one of these bunk emails?
I use Paypal weekly for over 2 years and have never had an issue.

just read the policy guidelines on paypal and you are fine. it is very easy to separate the real from the fake if you did..

I just delete all those emails.

I got robbed a couple of years ago through paypal. Basically I was too busy, and asked my ex-girlfriend to sell my vaio on ebay. She said someone wanted to buy it now for $1700, so I said sure. I signed up with paypal, money was put in my account so I shipped it. Yes, that was me with the philipines story. Then paypal took the money out of my account after I shipped it. I spent a lot of wasted time on hold with paypal's customer support, and they were pretty much very rude. It was naiive on my end, but a company that size should at least of refunded my money. They said I should have read the fine print, but damnit...it was too long yo, and no one reads dat. When speaking with paypals customer service, they were always ready to argue, as if this happens on a regular basis. Online fraud is the number one consumer complaint in America. Your best be is to not have too much money in your debit or credit card associated with your paypal account. I closed my account, and never used them again. fuck that

all i know is if some guy named janne from the nederlands wanted to buy my laptop, i wouldn't trust him :P
- rafalski0
Janne, do you have a list of trustworthy 1st world countries handy?
- nocomply0
To add to the story I mentioned earlier, these theives will originally appear to have a US address listed on their account. When the deal is initially made you are led to believe you will be shipping to the US. Its only after the funds have been "transferred" that they tell you to ship it aborad because they are going to "meet some family" or some BS.
I learned from my buddy's mistake. I'm only selling expensive shit through craigslist.
- grown-sexy0
Suppose you are the buyer. You trasfered 1700$ to sellers paypal account and he doesnt ship the laptop... Who do you blame?
- Jaline0
I wouldn't even buy anything that price online unless it was in the same country...
- version30
