Agreed, Crouwel! Paypal hasn't given me any problems yet and I don't store large amounts of money on it. In fact, I don't store any money on it unless I know I want to get something specific that will require me to use Paypal. I don't use credit card, I use e-checks and basically transfer money from my bank account into my Paypal account, a little each time I need some money to buy something online.
Momentum2, you ROCK for getting Firefly/Serenity comics. I have the series on DVD and I love Simon :)

I got robbed a couple of years ago through paypal. Basically I was too busy, and asked my ex-girlfriend to sell my vaio on ebay. She said someone wanted to buy it now for $1700, so I said sure. I signed up with paypal, money was put in my account so I shipped it. Yes, that was me with the philipines story. Then paypal took the money out of my account after I shipped it. I spent a lot of wasted time on hold with paypal's customer support, and they were pretty much very rude. It was naiive on my end, but a company that size should at least of refunded my money. They said I should have read the fine print, but damnit...it was too long yo, and no one reads dat. When speaking with paypals customer service, they were always ready to argue, as if this happens on a regular basis. Online fraud is the number one consumer complaint in America. Your best be is to not have too much money in your debit or credit card associated with your paypal account. I closed my account, and never used them again. fuck that

well I felt silly for quitting just because of fake emails, but then i heard about all the shadyness about money being deposited and then disappearing from accounts, and i was glad i left.

I think the trick is not to transfer large sums of money into your account all the time. Just keep it smaller.

"Paypal is secure and reputable. If you managed to get your account hacked, the problem is you
grown-sexy
(Jun 13 06, 16:57)"nice one!, ..it is completely my fault that someone used my card!?
I dont think so man, (sounds like maybe you work there ?) ;)
- blackspade0
i only ever used paypal for a teeshirt!!
like 40 bucks nz or somthing, never used it for anything else :/
- Jaline0
It could definitely be that password thing Mick suggested. I think it's more secure if you use different passwords for each site since it's harder to access everything you have if someone figures out one of your passwords, hacks in, or something to that extent. Of course, it's more effort to write / type the passwords down and everything but it's probably worth it in the end.

yeah im using same password for PP as i use for NT and loads of stuff & i'm cash rich.
just withdrawn £500 and changed to a wierd alphanumeric pass.
i bet i forget the damn thing tho, lol.

I don't think PayPal is unsafe - it's usually a username/password thing. ie. Do you use the same password on any other sites? Lots of sites don't encrypt their passwords which means any employee of any site you log in with can try your username or email address with your password you use on their site. Always use different passwords for different sites.

Janne, do you have a list of trustworthy 1st world countries handy?
