The blind spot is where the nerves meet in the back of the eye to take in all of the information, and feed it to your brain.

There's this really good interview with Bill Viola where he talks about features of the human eye in realtion to self defense etc. He makes a really great analogy to a thorn on a rose.

We can only see a certain spectrum. There are lots of waves and things we can't see, which means that just because you can't see something it doesn't mean it doesn't exist.
