My points are not referring to after you get the job, they are discussing the interview, since first impressions are important.

I've never seen anyone come for an interview in anything but jeans

be smart there is no excuse for turning up for and interview in casual clothes this is the most seriouse part of the whole job getting it in the first place the interviewers and you are nervouse because big desisions have to be made so don't make them more uncomfortable by turning up like a homless.

I have to wear a suit to meetings, but that's because the meetings are sometimes wth company CEOs etc.
An interview should be with someone like yourself, ie a designer/creative. In which case they will most probably not be dressed up smart (at least not in london), you should dress in a similar way to them. I don't think I'd trust a designer in a london studio who always wore a suit (unless they were the CD or something)

Hmm...I have never met with an interviewer who dressed down a lot to look casual...
- Baskerville0
me neither
- Jaline0
so you don't trust any of the interviewers?

wear a tie and blazer badge combo, with knife edge sharp slacks and a lobster motif throughout that ought to seal the deal yo!.

I said I wouldn't trust a designer at a london studio that wore a suit to work everyday.
Most of my interviewers have worn jeans. And I'm talking about some pretty high up people.
It's just not how people in the london design community dress on the whole.
Of course some CDs wear suits when they need to.

Oh, okay. I said this:
Hmm...I have never met with an interviewer who dressed down a lot to look casual...

me neither

(May 31 06, 06:02)so I assumed that all of your interviewers dressed very professionally and not casually.
- Baskerville0
what I meant was, I wasn't aware that they were specially dressing down but that they always were casual.
misunderstanding cleared up :o)

The interviewers already have the job. They don't need to impress you. Dress up for sure, if you have a nice full suit I say wear it.

a suit is NEVER too much

Nice black suit, clean shaved and fresh looking...nevermind what will you come to dress at work if you get the job, thats another story!

I wear a dark grey shirt, nice jeans and some tsubo shoes to all my recent interviews. Hasn't failed me yet.
- valentim0
hasn“t failed yet? so does that mean you got all the jobs?
- kyl30
it's been mostly for freelance and yes, most have offered some sort of work.
