for all mac fanboys, Jobs tell you to buy a new ipod every year

seems the media's starting to jump on apple's case.
you know it's getting bad when people in here (of all places) start a new thread every day complaining about their service or products.

people are jumping on apple's case cause previously apple products were not main stream (and still not except ipod).
as product lines go main stream, they will be more abverse to bashing and crit.
the loyal mac fanboys did not complain as much but main stream will complain more and more.
just like that max volumn on ipods. they sued to get have max set limit on volumn.
just like any other company (like microsoft), they will pron to more and more crits if they do not improve their service or product quality

I must say I agree with a number of the comments on the post about it being a stupid and pointless post.
Computer equipment being updated on a regular basis .. well I never ...

i think more than anything, the headline is misleading...
he's saying if you want to be on the cutting edge of technology, you have to constantly upgrade — not that people who have iPods should go out and buy a new one every year.
i don't think steve's so stupid as to say that out loud. maybe he'll just wish it.

what Gucci said

there's always been the saying that a PC is outdated by the time you take it out of the box. however the biggest difference is you can continue to upgrade components to keep a computer updated. however a new ipod at $400 per year just for what? a few more gigs of space and a new screen? seems a little weak.

hah..i still dont have a ipod.
and paying for osx upgrades when you allready have osx, was top of the iceberg.
talking about panther, jaguar etc. $129. each.by the way, I have a G4 867 at home and at work G5 1.6 and do really see any diffrent at all.
both has plenty of ram.ok enought..back to work.

indeed gucci
the technology requies regular update
but don you find double standard toward mac and othres?
people are very quick to defend / offend mac yet with others we tend to accept it as is.
why is that when mac fucks up its not apple's fault but when ms fucks up, it ms's fault.
- akrok0
well that has to do with the branding.
microsoft dont very strong branding.
you know, we can make anyone buy any kind of shh...with right branding.

microsoft has much stornger brand than apple.
the perception of the brand is different
apple has a core tendencies of followers where as microsoft is more a less every day computer.
the difference is more or less audience. microsoft has higher penetration in the market and brand it self. case in point, someone buys apple computer being enlightened by their ipod, only to discover that their new pretty apple is not compatible with other computers that their friends has. apple has gained penetration more in to computer matket via ipod and itunes but mjority of the world still runs on windos.
considering that microsoft has enough brand pentration, the perception of the brand is that it is a realiable software and trsuted brand. but obviously there are faults to be the market leader which is covering its all productional bases.
as everyone knows, mac is not a secure platform as microsoft. not to say that ms is the secure. but as there are more market penetration, there will be fauilts that are being revealed. this is slowly starting to happen with apple. from what i have noticed, since their introduction of cube, apple's quality in product has declined and also their customer support. logically they are not fully equiped to deal with mass market. at this point they are ready to produce products to increase their stock value and portolfio level than to great innovative products.
this is also confirmed by the loyal apple followers who feel that they are left out by apple and starting to lose thier affection toward them. But, the difference is that they have no place to turn to in terms of brand substitution. where as ms folks has more choices than other.
at the end, apple needs to understand their market and serve the existing market base rather than trying to gain further. if the product is good, than it will sell. in my opinion they have the worst customer relation management program. they are out for acquition rather than retention. this is reminecent of what ms has done over the years until in recent 4-5 years where they have realized that retention of customers were far more important than the acquisition.
apple better shape up on their production logistics and also their CRM methods or they will further lose what they have and become a single product producer.

>apple is not compatible with >other computers that their >friends has.
eh, there only two types. so whats the big deal. none of them really liked each other. so its same thing then.
even if microsoft has bigger market dont mean anything.
coca cola had bigger market untill pepsi woked up and took a big pieace of it. thanks to great branding + advertising.>as everyone knows, mac is not >a secure platform as microsoft.
thats just not true.
=o)

do ipods last a year?
uberdesigner
(May 26 06, 17:06)well it depends how you look at it. the ipod will last a year...the battery on the other hand usually goes bad within 6 months.
so it works great...if it's always plugged into a charger.

i hope you are not in advertising cause ads alone done sell products

I'm still on my first gen 10gb ipod. I use it all day, every day at work. It goes with me everywhere and I've never had to replace the battery.
I'm also typing this on a 3 year old utterly reliable ibook which my wife and I fight over every night. The only gremlin? One of the rubber 'feet' has been lost.
My airport express hasn't been a problem either so far.
I'm sure Mac has "friday afternoon jobs' just like everyone else, but I've yet to have one.
