he means shellie here on nt. from what i remember she lives in socal though, not la...but maybe she moved or knows that area well as well.
she helped me out when i was looking for a place in socal so it couldn't hurt to shoot her an email. she might post in this thread if she sees it as well.

venice...i see white women walking their dogs at night. its one of the more "colorful" beach cities in LA

If you haven't already, check out craigslist.org and see what they have. Some days are crap, others are gold. I've found two GREAT apartments through craigslist. Both have been less than $800/month (mind you I've had a roommate both times). But I've found some great quality places, big rooms, granite counters, wood floors, fireplaces, etc. No pool though...I'm on the hunt.
Oh, and my suggestion would be to only check out the listings with photos. If it looks nice it just might be. Request more pictures if you can't see it for yourself.

Mine too! Hence the name...but don't go changing your NT name. That'd just cause a whole lotta chaos.
Oh, and FYI, the places I've found that have been great were either on the westside (West LA) or in Hollywood (Hancock Park adj.). The Hancock Park area is up and coming...starting to becoming real nice. Check er out.

You don't know White Castle until you've had a fresh one...the frozen ones suck!
The real ones have holes in the burgers, so they get STEAMED while they cook. And the tiny crystal-like onions...and most buns...mmmmm...
