really? why'd you call me 'phonyboy' above in that same post?
what's PHONY about me?
PonyBoy
(May 19 06, 19:21)it's called WIT, as in calling me crow and what not.. i am not offended by it.
pony sounds like phony, get it?
i don't know you, so i don't know about your authencity.
this thread is simply how i loathe the christians that impose their beliefs on the lives of others (even if it's their children if they suffer severe consequences of it!)..
i have no problems with the many many practising christians i know in my environment but i do stay alert on whatever they try to impose on me, because that's where i can become really emotional and angered.

Ok, Crouwel. How bout going to the source and doing a comparison of the claims of Christ as layed out in the Bible, compared to world religions. Why let the people, culture, etc... who raised you, dictate what you believe today?
You can use terms like, "fundamentalist", "fanatic", etc... until you are blue in the face. But who is Jesus? What do the gospels say about him?

jaline have u ever seen that stupid show, mad tv?
- Jaline0
... but as Flagellum said above - the Bible point blank speaks out against homesexuality of both male and female - the passages are there and can be quoted - but I get a feeling some of you don't care because it will be coming from a book that 'has no meaning to today's society' as someone put it.
PonyBoy
(May 19 06, 19:26)It can also be interpreted as sexist, and fortunately society has changed a lot so that there is a bit more equality.

I just dont understand why the real christians dont call out the religious right in this country instead of wasting their breath with people without the faith.
I never will understand that.
mrdobolina
(May 19 06, 19:22)it's their defensive hypocrisy.
no matter how bad things are that happen, people will always be safe within the secretive subculture of their religion.
- flagellum0
and once again, Crouwel, you conflate debating the merits of a notion with those "xtians forcing their beliefs down people's throats!"
How bout this: stop forcing your nihilistic, humanistic, empty, therapy-ridden, balderdash down my throat.
- Jaline0
jaline have u ever seen that stupid show, mad tv?
mrdobolina
(May 19 06, 19:31)no, but I've heard about it

there is a character called "Bible Dude" and he is a christian super hero and they make fun of pat robertson style christians. Its some funny shit.

and somehow this Bible book remains a best seller throughout thousands of years of book burning, banning attempts, persecution of it's believers, and on and on. And it STILL radically changes countless lives... especially those left empty from 19th century civil-war era "modernist" thinking. ;)

When did Christianity or the Bible come into homosexual matter? Are you getting your beliefs confused?
Crouwel
(May 19 06, 19:17)Displaying your gross ignorance again. Shall I cite all the passages in the Bible that mention homosexuality?
flagellum
(May 19 06, 19:23)nothing about gros ignorance my friend.
i know each and every holy book mentions it, doh!
my point was, since when does it need to interfere with homosexuality in todays society?
well we damn well know why:
because you christian extremists want to merge church with state again and believe me, if this is really keeping on i will do anything within my right to stop that!

Crouwel, what are your boundaries and why do you draw them?
Do you believe that marriage between adults and children should be legalized? Why, or why not?
Do you believe that marriage between humans and animals should be legalized? Why, or why not?
Tell me about your boundaries and the WHY behind your boundaries.

flagellum
(May 19 06, 19:34)that could have something to do with the fact that Christianity is the largest religion.

don't care about the movie, but i'm bored. too lazy to go out for a cocktail.

And this is more ad hominem claptrap. Are people not allowed to disagree with certain notions, now? Love this "modern" tolerance. "I'll be tolerant of anyone who disagrees with me." Eh, Crouwel? lol
flagellum
(May 19 06, 19:25)STOP talking about opinions and agreeing with each other. you sound like a crying kid in the schoolyard.
the reason for my anger here is the fact that your ancient dusty book is again used for political ACTION, and that is not opinion that is fucking what is being forced on people, whether they AGREE with it or not.

Enter response:I promise you... and yes I can say PROMISE that if you did read the Bible - you'd see how it GLORIFIES women. :)
Like I said - you need to read yourself - you're trying to establish a negative connection w/the Bible based on what you've 'heard'.
The Bible says mankind should adore and treasure women... and cherish them as they have qualities that are much less dominant in men (affection etc)...
I doubt you want any of those quotes either...right? :)
- flagellum0
that "ancient dusty book" is vibrant and living in millions of homes and millions of lives. Like it or not, it's message... it's MESSAGE is radically changing people. In droves! And has been millenia.
What do you think that message is, Crouwel? And why do you think what you do about that message.

Kevin, I said it could be interpreted that way, as many people believe it is sexist (even though I know what you mean about it glorifying women at times). But then you look at society at the time and you have to wonder...
It was already being used for people's own needs rather than being truthful to what the book is actually trying to say, which is all up for interpretation since we didn't write it.
