transcendental meditation - who has the knowledge?
- uberdesigner0
look past the idea of a recursive universe.
stare inside your own head.
your mind will always be a mystery, especially to those who study it.
go sit on a friggin mat and hum.

i am currently learning meditation. not really about trance or whatever. but i am practising it as my psyhologist is very specialized in this...
in the beginning i thought it was rather odd and i wasn't really open for it, but since i practised some more it does indeed make you feel more relaxed and you can learn to look down on problems and see them only as tiny little bugs that should not harm you.
in other words, what i am learning is breathing, physical sensibility combined with mental "redirection", make yourself the center of the now. no past, no future, this is the core of it. the more you master it the more relaxed and self-secure you will become.
i am not kidding when i say i would have probably killed myself a while ago if it wasn't for my psychologist to gently and patiently (but surely) got me into this. one year ago i would have laughed at this, bloody cynical i was about everything... but the insane amount of cynicism turned out to be a mechanism of despair and defence.
the best thing that comes out of this is that i learned not to care what people think/say/write about you (well, not as much as before anyway) and thus you come closer to your innerself, the deepest self you were when you were born.
not the current (adult) self; completely shaped and misformed by experiences of hate, power abuse, struggle for status and wealth, verbal and physical abuse etc.etc.
unfortunately i am still having lots of troubles though as i have too little time for it and unfortunately i cannot make much more time for it as i have too many shit to get done and must make a bit of money along as well...

and thanks janne, hope things work out.
I am curious to learn, I do have reservations about the TM™ as a brand, very expensive (though there are cheaper options now) and somewhat cultish.
- Rand0
the cultish brandish aspect of this particular adaptation bothers me as well, but it seems grounded in truth.
I admire the books of Krishnamurti and Ekhart Tolle, not that you could tell from the way I comport myself. I think this is imprtant reading:

Meditation has its bennies that's for sure. It has really helped me conbat things such as ADHD and stuff. Furthermore, it has modified my ability to concentrate despite external circumstances. Find a good teacher, and this may take a while, then bail and go on yr own. Eckhart Tolle is a good source as is Swami Veda Bharati. They won't teach you the flash and dance like TM. But peeps seeking powers (sidhis) never get IT anyway.
The best way to see the results is to do it at a set time each day, preferrably AM and PM. I can't really meditate much in the morning as I have a tendency to fall back asleep.
Good luck.

'I didn't watch much TV as a kid and I don' t watch it now. I don' t find anything beautiful or unique to the medium, and the only thing you can do on TV that you can't do in film is make a continuing story - which is so cool!'
David Lynchmaybe jaline, but you'd have nothing to talk about.

I suggest you read about Silva meditation Rasko. Sort of goal focused style of meditation, but I'd say closer to huna than NLP
