thumbs down on cookie cutter houses.

well, relatively the same I mean, they're not exactly the same. You can make some mean do-re-me buying and selling those types though.
If I were to buy a lot, I'd build it contemporary and my neighbors would hate me and I would give them the finger

Sweet. How far out is it?
And if you move ... I GOT DIBS ON YOUR CURRENT PLACE!

(Apr 26 06, 07:06)ranges from 250K to 300K here
again, my friend bought one, but it'd be a good investment

Good luck, hope you're patient, takes a while for prices to establish themselves in new subdivisions.

couldnt youbuy something cooler for that in PA?

I don't know if I'll do it. Kind of a big risk, but it's just an idea. My friend is a little bit scared, but he has two salaries, he and his wife that are pitching in to this.

(Apr 26 06, 07:19)I live in a super contemporary place right now. I wouldn't live there, more or less an investment idea. Ideally, buying a lot and designing my own place. It's the area that worth a shitload. I might be the black sheep if I do something different from the rest of that plan and I'm not even sure they would let me.
eh

yeah, that is going to be your biggest issue jaz, the R&R's are going to be pretty strict there i would bet. basically, to avoid people like you from doing what you are thinking. :0
might want to look into those if you can- yer friend could have a copy to peruse
- mpfree0
yep they will probably tell me I can't do it. I'll give it a heave and see where it goes

I'm pretty sure they won't. My one friend is a real estate agent for Ryan Homes and does little communities like that.
I think you're really sort of stuck with particular outsides, and on the inside you have total control.
Of doorknobs, woodwork, whether you want an electric or gas stove, etc. hehe.

I'm talking about just buying the lot and becoming the builder so to speak. Contracting with the proper groups to build something unique.

of course falvorful
my godfather could BUY those motherfuckers out 100 times over

if its an investment, you gotta think about selling it down the road to get your money. Try to keep personal tastes out of it and go with what would add value. If its that much different, it might be hard to sell.

Haha, okay. That didn't really seem like your steez.
Argh - I'm looking for this short story about a 4 dimensional house (or 5?), it was pretty good.
I think Robert Heinlein may have wrote it.
... You should build that.
