So uber, have you told your dad yet?
No no... not that you use a Segway... that you're gay?

just do the math on that Lee Raymond guy. 400 million isn't that much considering his job
at 400 million for the retirement, over the course of a year, each gas buyer paid just over 7/10th of a cent per day (only $2.67/year)
this is a distict and obvious case of fractions of a cent making people rich with a large market

I think Greedo was talking about you, waterhead.

i really hope mrdobolina reads that part.

i'm impressed you have a friend who owns an escalade. i can't believe he hasn't punched you yet cause you hound him daily about how he's ruining the ozone.
and the lincoln gets better mileage (i'm not reading ahead) as i imagine it weighs much less than the escalade. i'll read ahead to see if i'm right.

(Apr 24 06, 11:22)You would be impressed about someone driving an Escalade.
Thing is Garett, he knows he's an idiot for having an Escalade.
The Lincoln does get better mileage, although I am not too sure how much lighter it is than that truck. It is like half a block long. You have to put a lead additive in the tank with every fillup so It probably actually evens out in the end.

also, what m|sane said. hear hear.

My next car is going to be a hybrid, or, possibly the Hoverboard from Back to the Future.

what would be a more acceptable profit for you? 30¢. 10¢?
how much did you charge for your last freelance gig? how do you feel about paying $3.00 for a beer in the city when back home in my small town i can get the same beer for $1.25. which means the bar is still making a good profit, which means miller is actually making the beer for pennies on the dollar. yet i don't hear many people bitch about that.
------come drinking with me sometime, i'll bend your ear about beer prices; i just don't generally start threads on message boards every time i have something to prove to the world at large.
Also, i bet the price of beer has a lot more to do with local taxes, rent, overhead etc than profit. The difference is, this country desperately needs its gasoline; shit will still run if the beer runs out (god forbid).
So yeah, if you're moving millions of barrels a day, i'd appreciate it if you only take 10¢ or less on the gallon so you're not forcing poor people to walk to work or similar consequences.

The reason of it's cost right now has little to do with ethanol, but more to do with speculations in the market, fears of an Iranian attack, the trouble in Nigeria, the increase of fossil fuel use in China + India, and a host of other things.
Everyone is so worried about Exxon giving 400 million as a seperation package, but ignoring the fact that we are peaking on oil supplies and we are just going to run into a whole other host of problems in a few years.
That's the real worry, that we will never (as far as it looks now) have another fuel that gives a EROEI (energy return on energy invested) that oil does. It's is going to be a powered down future, hopefully with less waste, less geopolitical concern over fossil fuels (this is the best case scenario, the worst case is fairly grim.)
If you really want to know why oil is priced as such and why we are pretty certain of peak can be address in Matthew Simmons book Twilight In The Desert.
Also, check www.lifeaftertheoilcrash.net
Ethanol is the least of our price worries.
I'd gladly pay 6.00 a gallon to get Bush out of office, bring in a Jimmy Carter who has a friggin clue and has thought about a wise energy policy (not to mention foreign policy.).
We have to ween ourselves off the teat of oil.

I have a friend that has an Escalade and a 1970 Lincoln Mark VII that runs on regular.
Which one do you think gets better mileage?
