hahah..ya know...i tried to get with teh whole king diamond thing back in the day (waaay early 80's) i had a cousin that had some mercyful fate records, and i checked them out, and i listened to some of his solo stuff, but i just couldn't get into it...not sure what it was about him or his style...just didn't click with me...
then again, at the time i was crazy into metallica, venom, celtic frost/hellhammer etc...
i suppose i'd been influenced by that style so much anything different just didn't appeal to me...and then, just as i was in my black leather jacket/freaky backpatch, studs and death metal peak, a friend came over one weekend and played pink floyds 'the wall' for me...i'd never listened to it all before, and it was like a revelation...now THIS was music...
traded in my death metal vibe for 70's prog rock.
suddenly i was into jethro tull, oooold alice cooper, genesis and floyd....
live and learn i guess
