whats the best solution to linking your ipod to your car stereo.
Halfords are charging 100 quid for a connection. Is that the best??

dont use those cassette tape converters they sound incredibly bad, just a pointer, dont know the best way

I can rule out Griffin's iTrip, or probably any one that works with FM radio.

I have this, and it works great:

just buy a deck that has an audio input on the front. there are a bunch of them out there now.
under $70 - http://shopping.yahoo.com/s:Car%…

iTrip works for me (a bit of static tho, not totally reliable)

I'll second this:

with an fm thing like the itrip your cars alternator might interfere with the signal or like someone said , it might not always be reliable.
the things that plug into your cassette hole and into the headphones part of your ipod work. my lil bro uses that in his car and he gets decent results. good if your just 'listening' to tunes while in your car. maybe not a solution if you're an audiophile.
if its a newish car then get in touch with your dealer and see if theyve got an install - most new makes do offer ipod integration to the standard head unit. (their solution might fit more with the car interior as its designed for YOUR car - rather than halfords 'universal' solution)
and as someone said, some head units will already have an input jack in the front or back for an ipod.

aftermarket head units from companies like alpine and pioneer offers an ipod adapter to their head units. it allows the connection to charge the ipod as well as have complete control over the ipod. you wouldn't have two volume controls, like the head unit and the ipod, the song information displays on the head unit, you don't have to have the ipod upright somewhere so you could view the display you could just put it in your glovebox, makes things simple and clean. also the best choice solution for audiophiles because aftermarket head units usually have better output signal than factory head units.
another option for ipod integration is fm modulation, not an fm transmitter like the griffin itrip. that is also a better sounding solution than a cassette adapter or fm transmitter.
if you want to go with your OEM head unit, look for an adapter for your car here: http://enfigcarstereo.com/shopsi…

the reason I went with a direct wired adaptor for my factory car stereo is that I hate the way new stereos look in a dashboard that wasn't made for them

yeah i know what you mean, most of them look like spaceships. some of them are starting to look better, though.
