What file types (for a logo) can I save out to place into a word template for a letterhead?
It is an illustartor eps at the mo.
What will bring the best results?
p.s has anyone created word templates for small clients before? Any tips?

btw.. i just give people CMYK jpegs to stick into Word. everything else seems to either look like crap or create a massive template file.

RGB jpeg has worked fine for me. 300 dpi at 100%. Make sure you lock the object, and set the margins for them. I also like to put in a sample Letter to show them how to format the copy.

(Mar 6 06, 16:31)Tell me about it but I have a client that is really trying to save on costs.
I want to make the document print as well as possible but prvent the client form accidentally moving any elements.

Thanks Soler.
Do you mean set margins for either side of the document or around the logo?
How does RGB print form word?

I find clients like 32bit pngs. (or 24bit + transparency according to photoshop). The MS office suite seems to support them, and they can overlay them on photos and stuff for powerpoints.
but to be honest, I'm not sure that anything will print nicely out of Word. if your looking for sharp black only, I'd try a 1200dpi bitmap.

i've used jpegs and tif's. png files are reliable also.

small client = make sure you get paid a retainer first or have a contract in place.

You should try WMF/EMF. It's vector and a common file format too.
It is a clipart file format, but if you flatten your text (so everything is pure vector) - may have to merge things to make it come out right in word.
Use File > Export > WMF/EMF in Illy.
File sizes come up nice too!

Nice Mojo. Is that the best quailty do you think?

I ALWAYS use an RGB TIFF, and I make the image typically an 8.5 x 11 bacground image in the header of the docuemtn, that way if they go to page 2, 3, 4, etc. it is there too!
TIFF's print amazingly out of Word and the CMYK - RGB holds the best I've found. On screen, it'll look tinted, but that's because I place it in the header of the doc., it prints great. And yes, I always set Margins, Styles, Paragraph (leading), and drop in a sample letter with placement of blocks (To, From, Date, Body, Salutaion, etc.)
