If it means I could pick up a case of Shlitz for under $5 then hell yes... make them tax exempt.

i agree, 2 sides to every coin, they have the right to put it up, i have the right to take it down
fairs fair right?

My boss was just saying how he thought that the Foreign Legion halls were basically government subsidized bars. Sort of true if you think about it.

(Mar 1 06, 12:20)Is that the same as a guy has every right to burn the flag, and I have every right to take his jaw off for doing it?!? Right?

what a patriot.

This seems like overreation to me. How can someone be offended by a picture of a founding father praying for his country? Maybe he's praying to budda... but that would probably be ok then right?
So what if the teacher believes in God.. who cares? I don't understand this nazi like desire to oppress people.
- Mimio0
lol. A real patriot would burn the guy.

That's quite an assumption. Being a Christian, I am not for the school system telling my kids about religion. Fifty years ago when the country was much more uniform in their beliefs, no big deal. But now, it would just be a bomb waiting to go off.
Also, don't say "they" without defining "they" - If "they" are "Christians" I don't like being thrown under that bus.
And for arguements sake - in most public schools posters for "religious clubs" - say a Bible study that meets before school aren't against the rules. So, I wouldn't be opposed to a poster for Hebrew School or an Islamic fundraiser. If the teacher had a statue of Budha and was indoctrinating the kids with such, yet I would be opposed as I assume you would (if you're going to be consistent).
_____________
I'm sure they wouldn't allow ads for Hebrew school or Islamic fundraisers either. Typical hypocrites

I gave up burning people for lent.
Bad timing on my part. :(
- mrdobolina0
if it didnt cross this teachers mind that putting up religious posters might get him in trouble, he should not be teaching your kids, because he is a dumbass.
- Mimio0
Planet if you read what the teacher had in his room you'd see he was posting propaganda that had nothing to do with school activities.
- planet010
Agreed - that's not what my post was about. I read the story.

"Lee argued that his bulletin boards at the school in Yorktown, about 65 miles southeast of Richmond, were a limited public forum open for teachers' private expression and speech."
UMMM no.
whether it is about religion or anything else...

This nation was founded by Deists & Christians, including pastors and music ministers. Jefferson let Christians use government offices as places of worship.
It's interesting how far we've come.
That said, I don't advocate religious imagery in public schools. Not in our now pluralistic society.

(Mar 1 06, 12:23)*happy I don't burn flags
i think that's a little different
I'd say if he burns the flag, you can burn him. That sounds technically correct to me.

Alright, I guess I misunderstood where you were going with the idea that it might be ok if it were for a Christian student club.
