PC: programming, flash, local server for testing, most web stuff
MAC: all organization (mails, adresses, file management) image retouching, layouts, print jobs
..thats how I work it

ye same, use my mac for all print work and pc for all web stuff, been thinking about working on web on my mac but not sure which program to use anything better than dreamweaver?
- index_html0
you can do the webstuff on mac as well, its just a bit less snappy, I think.

the best of both worlds!
solution for PC: don't put it on the internet.

pcs are for poor people and non-designers
if you're a designer, you already know you need a mac.
this guy asking to be convinced is just retarded and trying to justify buying it as a status symbol

so don't even humor him

the intel duo core's on the mac doesn't seem to like the adobe suite. Adobe has annoucned that they won't do any optimizing for the duo core intels until next version.
You can always buy an intel processor pc and wait till OSX gets hacked. Which they are half way there.

does anybody really do print/publication work on a pc?

Here is my spec sheet. You can build this for about the price of a powerbook.

Very powerful machine. I'm very happy. barely crashes.

I am currently on a PC, but had a 3 month intermezzo with a mac mini and I'd say get a Mac they are more than a status symbol.
The OS is definitely nicer than Windows and it doesn't hang the way Windows XP does and I generally found it nicer to use. and there are actually small programms that actually are worth your time.
Also noticed that I barely touched my 2.6 GHZ PC while I had the Mini although it's obviously faster.
All in all... I was happier with the Mac.

uhhh
i'm on a pc, i never use macs. the interface is shitty and the heirarchy of the way the system files are organized are shit.
plus i can't justify spending double the money on a mac that i could build an equally powerful pc with.
so yes, people do print and layout work on pcs.

Thinking about switching from pc to apple but need convincing. So why should I go with an powerbook?

Because you have a reason and dont have to ask anybody for convincing!

I've always liked Macs and praised their OS. It's strange that I never got to like actually using them for work. For some reason coming back to Windows always feels like relief to me.
I still like Macs.

Barely crashes...I love it. Seriously...besides the OS, keeping consistent color is so much easier with our Macs. From scan to print...easier and more consistent.

macs are a pleasure to work with. the os is amazing, if your a creative, you always should work with something that is a pleasure. your favourite camera to your favourite pen.
i switched from pc and other than for managing itunes, my pc just sits.
i have a powerbook and it goes along with camera, everywhere that i go.
