it was pretty sad last night on the news actually, some old boy in leicester who runs a members-only club which is actuallly owned by it's 3000 members was saying that there's no way he'll stay in business as the members who own it will be so fucked off with being disallowed to smoke on what is, effectively, their own property that they'll disband. the wee blue-collar places will be paying the price and the trend of off-license sales going up and pubs closing throughout the northeast just because alcohol is becoming so expensive will be exacerbated.

Why couldn't we ban non-smokers? Pubs are for smoking and drinking, and if you dont like that, dont fucking go in one. I dont like cars, other peoples children, angry mobs... I can avoid all of them if I please. I dont stand in the middle of the fucking road dodging cars whining about the fact I might die if I get hit - I dont stand in the middle of the fucking road! The upper-middle classes running this government dont have a clue about the simple pleasures in life because they've got fucking fast cars, bubbly, fad diets, and all manner luxury to distract them from them hellish reality of existence. Ban these assholes from their own stupidity, and ban them from our god-damn pubs. Wankers.
