the spying hearings are going on today and gonzales is lying like a motherfucker.

The hearing began with a sudden and sharp partisan dispute when Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Arlen Specter ruled that Gonzales did not have to be sworn in to testify. After Democrats strongly objected and demanded a roll-call vote, Republicans prevailed and the attorney general did not testify under oath.
He's basically gotten permission to lie right there.

I just don't get that as if he'll have to answer anything anyway, as if there were any teeth in the hearing, as anyone has been held to account for breaking the law or common sense for that matter.
