jno, I know very little about it, just what I've read in a couple of Beeb articles. I was talking generaly, I'm no fan of all the shitstorms about plays and books and cartoons and all the rest. I'm quite anti-religion myself, but I'm trying not to post very much on here cos I don't know many of the facts, to be honest :)

yeah, well, rumor has it that the cartoons were intentionally reprinted and publicized by muslim groups/editors throughout europe to stir shit up & that it wasn't the original intent of the cartoons to cause international scandal.

suppose i just found it very surprising that a board full of 'artists' were so into the censorship of 'art'.

rumour has it that (insert drivel here).

are these REALLY that offensive? I mean it's in bad taste but is it really bad enough to cause embassy closings and marches?
In the past a little know artist Andres Serrano (sarcasm) did several things that ticked off christians but they didn't burn flags and threaten people.

at the risk of being labelled a proponent of censorship my take on it is that if you already know that something is going to cause widespread offence, especially in somethng as personally important to so many people then it's pretty obnoxious to repeat it.
*out.

(Feb 3 06, 06:15)No one said that.
Sorry you can't read, there are people who can help with that you know. Maybe you should ask an adult to help you with this.

seriously though, no one commented on the Taliban destroying statues and faces of Buddha in Afghanistan, etc,
The last time I checked Buddha preached nothing but peace. I guess it's ok to go apesh*t over a cartoon, but totally cool to destroy another religion's ancient icons.
Was the Buddhist community up in arms over it? Did they threaten anyone? I don't recall that much hoopla.

fuck it. Jaz, welcome to my ignore list.
Everything that needed to be said has been said. Just let it drop yeah?
- Clear0
okay, we call this "art"
http://www.usc.edu/schools/annen…and a danish paper is causing a field day for CNN?? for what? a cartoon!? Think I need to turn off the news more often.
- ********0
sure I'll drop it... just an interesting point though no?
I could care less about being on your ignore list. I'll be leaving NT shortly anyway.

Im not sure anyone here has ever defended the fucking taliban.
Keep perpetuating that "us versus them" attitude it is working out great for you.
What you are doing is no worse than muslims hating all westerners.

ohh yeah you're right, wait a second, that's it, by God, the Buddhist community doesn't preach violence.
imagine that.
