Ambition, which, within reasonable bounds, does good rather than harm.

Question, why not take a higher ground - and have a vision of not losing the culture and history of the city while attracting investors?
The question is how to keep it form being a giant landgrab that wipes out the long historical and cultural values of the city..can you address that?

Question, yes... I want all of the poor people in New Orleans to remain poor. Shut the fuck up.
I agree with Tick.
Just because a bunch of rich developers want to come in and build does not make it the right thing to do. I sure am glad you are not a city planner.
"Well hey, they got the money, let them come in!"

mrdobolina I get the sense that you think corporations are bad?
Do you realize that corporations moving into a poverty stricken area is what ends the poverty, creates jobs and gives hope?
How do you think an area gets "lifted" from poverty?
TheTick: Have you seen some kind of city plans that indicate a mass swarm of landgrab to wipe out all culture in the area that none of us have seen or heard of?

If you think corporations give a shit about the poor poor people of New Orleans, you are tripping.

You seem angry at the rich so you don't want them to bring money in...
but yet... somehow... you want the city to get lifted from poverty.
Good plan mrdobolina. I see you have thought this through well.
Stay angry.

Who said that?

//Question, Bush has said that the federal government is going to bring in $250 Billion to rebuild, who needs outside money?
- mrdobolina0
that is exactly what poor people need is casinos.
- ********0
mrdobolina throwing money at a city for rebuilding is great but if you don't create jobs then you are just rebuilding the poor state you had before. The way to create jobs is by corporate interest. Why would you be angry at corporate interest? Seems very ignorant if you ask me.

(Jan 17 06, 08:35)huh? I am leaving this thread and I will assume you're kidding. Nobody could be that stupid. Poor people don't need casinos you weirdo, they need jobs. Casinos bring jobs. Good luck mrdobolina! Fight the man! lol

rebuilding creates construction jobs.
Casinos and resorts is not the only way out, Question...
That is my point.

fuck that city.
fact is, it's dying... the land will contine to sink and the salt marshes will continue to receed.
the fed's will have to pump hundereds of billions into new 18 to 20' leveys and pumps to keep the water out for the next hundered years... and it will still be a loosing battle in the long run.
new orleans was a grand culture of the past... it devolved into a giant ghetto with a yearly frat boy blow out.
sorry, but that aint worth hundreds of billions to replace...
and fuck that mayor. ...still looking for scapegoats for his own failures... he's as guilty as any fema lackey.
- mrdobolina0
pavlov, the same thing could be said about nyc. it is sinking, the groundwater is all becoming salt water etc...

(Jan 17 06, 08:42)mrdobolina New York brings a lot of money into this country. New orleans does not. Too peak interest into New orleans there has to be some development that brings the rich people who you hate into the state to spend. Thus creating businesses and jobs = future.
