yeah Question, New Orleans isn't a major port for goods and petroleum in the United States. You're right.
Have you ever been poor, Question?
- mrdobolina0
Also, your assumption that I hate all rich people is ridiculous and takes away from your argument.
- monkeyshine0
mrdobs for president! I'll vote for you.
This issue of bringing money in, let developers get richer and create labor jobs for the poor, etc...gentrification, blah blah blah ...it really isn't an answer for NO or any other area struggling with gentrification.
This is a class issue and we have alot of politicians who care more about placating their financial backers than thinking creatively about how to eliminate poverty.

(Jan 17 06, 08:51)I'd love to hear your solution.
Because oh, this has been going on for a few hundred years and hasn't been able to be fixed, so I'd love to hear how a guy on NT has the almighty answer.

- monkeyshine0

I'm not a politician and I don't know the answers. go read Richard Florida's book, Creative Class. There are ways other than trickle down to help smaller businesses thrive. Not everything has to be The Gap and Walmarts.
- mrdobolina0
right on monkeyshine, especially in New Orleans.

surely some mid-point id ideal here, no? big money gentrification ALWAYS leaves a lot of people out of the re-birth and often doesn't solve too many problems. On the other hand though, it IS a valuable way to bring jobs and money to an area, especialy you'd think when something like this happens, their are other ways to re-vitalise areas though...
