I am voting Green
because NDP / Conservative / Liberals are all the same
- Jaline0
This is the first time I'll be voting, and I actually have no clue as to who to vote for. Every other year it would've been easier for me. This time, I hate everyone.

Green Baby. I voted them last time and it's good to see a lot of people starting to consider it.
Not a protest vote - they get $1.75 for every vote they get even if no seats.
- ********0
see that good for the Green booger party
- NegativeSpace0
I am also voting green.
I used to vote Liberal but I am tired of the mentality to vote for the lesser of the two evils just because I don't want the conservatives to win.

canuck politics for our american friends explained:
Conservative (torys):
think republican lite. in comparison to american parties, thee guys are probably more akin to the democrats...
teh good- fairly moderate in many cases and are very good for business
the bad-although not as neanderthal as a Neocon, they 'are' the conservative party, so if you like a party thats goal is to join the states (lets be honest) or atleast emulate them in every way, these are your guys)Liberal Party:
-think WAAAY farther left than American Democrats.....
what some might call the default ruling party of Canada.
they've had power so long it's gone to their heads. they've had an assload of scandals.
on the good side, they tend to do the right thing (ie they kept us the FUCK out of Iraq)
on the bad side, they fuck up enough to make the Conservatives occasionally look like a good idea.NDP
not even really applicable in American politics ..
-think socialists in disguise...
the love em or hate em third major party in Canada..the New Democrat Party..pretty much socialist..they're basically responsible for every good social program we enjoy here..
from healthcare initiatives to affordable housing...they're pretty much behind all of it...
the good- about as decent as politicians will ever get:they really do help
the bad- they sort of suck when they're in total power...they're like a kitchen table enterprise run by well meaning but incompetent do gooders.
they're best when they have a lot of strength..enough to force certain agendas..but not quite enough to do anything they wantand there you have it..
the present canadian political scene...
what is exador gonna do with his vote?probably NDP...
way i see it, the conservatives are gonna win...i can't change that
the liberals don't deserve to win either..sure they kept us out of iraq, and for that i'm grateful, but this new crop of liberals aint exactly good..which leaves the NDP
possibly throwing my vote away, but fuck it..
vote your conscience.

I agree vote what you feel is right, go for it! I hate when people think they are wasting a vote.
So many people have this mindset that they are wasting a vote, or they wont make a difference, or that whats the point of voting if the libs or conversatives are just going to win, but I think if everyone went out and actually voted for who they felt for, youd see a much greater turnout for the smaller parties.

i voted last week because my home riding is in ottawa, but I'll be in montreal studying my ass off on election day.
i voted NPD because they match my social values. i know they will NEVER be in power but i dont care. i just want them to have a strong enough balance of power. i have a feeling the conservatives will win this as a minority government because we need to punish the liberals.
if the NPD holds more chairs then the previous government, it means they'll be able to break the government on anything it finds to be wrong. like 2tier health care, abolish gay marriages etc. so the more NPD the better. tell that to people who keep arguying voting for NPD is a wasted vote.

lol, good to know exador haha
- sykosis0
green is a good vote... they'll never win... but they get my vote every time I go out to the boxes
- Jaline0
I have a problem with people who vote without looking at the party's platform. This seems to be a lot of the Green voters I know. But I do agree that the Green Party is actually expanding their platform to include more important issues now, so they may get better with time.
- Fanco0
jaline,
voting green party encourages it to be recognize. like spiralstarez said, for every vote they get money. money to help finance thier campaigns. money to help get better organised. the more they get votes too the better. they'll get recognized as the 5th federal party and during debates they can finally bring up the damn kyoto protocol and other natural issues. issues ignored by other parties.
- Jaline0
I know what you mean. I just think that people should vote for a party for the right reasons.
I'm a bit confused though, because I still don't know who to vote for.
- exador10
hahah..thanks JazX..that was all for you buddy :)
seriously tho, it kind of occured to me that although we canucks sure discuss american politics alot (lets face it, its entertaining, doesnt affect us toooo much, and it's on TV...what the hell)
but its a fact that most americans don't have the luxury of knowing much about us politics wise (other than most of us sound like a pack of commies when we post here hahah)so we know ALLLLL about you dudes..(kinda sorta)
but you don't know what makes us tick..so ther ya go folks...
3 major parties and a halndful of other ones, ie the green party etc..oh..and the BlocQuébécois
they're the big party in (where else) quebec..
here's the sad thing...the leader of the Bloc is without a doubt the most sensible, well spoken, sophisticated and intelligent of ALLLL the candidates...this guy is smooth daddy...
the bad news is, his goal is to get his province the fuck out of canada..
its a crying shame..you see this guy in a debate, and its all...fuck me..i'd vote for that guy...that guy is fucking awesome...
uh..
oh yeah..
he wants to break up our country...
er....yeah...;)
seriously tho, i'd vote for that guy if i could get away with it...
or ateast invite him to run canada once quebec leaves us
;)
- canuck0
These peopel have my vote.
- Fanco0
actually exador.
the goal of his party is not to break away québec from canada. then why would he be in the federal government?
his goal is actually to do whats best for quebec. be the voice of quebec in the federal government... until / if they break away. if that EVER happens, it would be because of the provincial Party Québecois.
- Jaline0
*superglues Québec to Ontario
