i prefer what Typographica said
If the goal is an eclectic face I don't see the need to pass the glyphs one at a time. All we need is a standard AI template with guidelines. Everyone draws their chars on their own template and submits to Mel.

If this project is to be a valid experiment, it will only work if we define the rules of engagement as limited as possible. Ergo the way forward would be the initial proposed suggestion, where 'Aa' starts and handover his/her letter on to the next in the process and so on and so forth. Then as a final outcome we will se the supposed morphing of a typeface. The alternative would simply be a typeface made by different designers. But enough talk lets get cracking people!!

Yah. If Aa starts an illy file with whatever grid set up, do the magic, pass it down the alphy.

The problems with the pass-on method:
1. Slow. Remember the Alphabet Illustration things? Think how long it will take if everyone's waiting for the next person to DRAW a letter.
2. Boring. No one wants to stick to the design created by the first dude do they? (No offense, Negative Space).
Also, I guess no one noticed that I called Tt early and didn't get in on the board, so I'll do the question mark and exclamation.

I agree with typographica. We should all design our glyphs blindly.
