i've suffered from it on many occasions. it's quite annoying.

probably who started it months back haha...
do you have hallucinations to go with it?
I always imagine my colleagues walking into my lunchtime sleeping spot but I can't get up in time to react to them. Feels so restraining and helpless.

once i was in bed alseep when i heard my front door open and close. i heard someone jogging up the stairs. i opened my eyes then tried to jump out of bed but couldn't move. i could hear this person getting nearer to my bedroom door. suddenly i gained control of my body and leapt out of bed. i couldn't hear the person anymore. i had to check every room in the house.

No paralysis but I have hallucinations when I wake up suddenly that last about 30-60secs. Depends on what I've been dreaming about but usually involves things crawling all over the room and bed.

I have had this on several occasions and it is a bit frightening since you can't move yet you hear things that are not normal. From research this is common for people who are not getting enough sleep. I had it quite a bit during times when I was working really late and then going to bed. I also found out a lot of doctors are not informed about it. I went to two doctors who tried to tell me i was just dreaming. There are also myths on the net about it being related to ghosts/demons etc. That scared the crap out of me at first but then I found the factorial research.
The end resolution was to get at least 6-8 hours of sleep every night. Have not had the issue in a while.

havnt had it in awhile, but the first time it really felt like somone was holding me down, but ive never seen figures.
supposedly your half asleep and the figures you see are from your dreams.
whenever i experience it now, i just struggle to wiggle my toes and fingers until i get enough control to move my whole body. i still get freaked out though

I had it plenty of times... one last week actually. I get the held down feeling, and hear all sorts of crazy shit. Last week someone was whispering in my ears... scary.
I always know when they are coming because in my dreams, no matter WHAT I am dreaming about- everything will start to get dark, as if I am going blind...
Then the voices start.

I don't get paralyized exactly, but similar experience, and I never get enough sleep. I wake up very confused, but in a panic. I can move, but it's difficult, and hard to focus on anything.

i've had it a lot. it usually only happens to me when i am REALLY tired. it's weird but i actually kind of like it. to me it feels like i am in a REALLY deep sleep. that makes no sense, but there is no better way i can explain it.
it gets kinda scary, not so much the not being able to move, but when it happens to me it's like i can't breathe. i have to kinda wake myself up a bit to take a deep breath. it's really weird, but after i take a deep breath, m body feels as if it is completely weightless like an OBE...i think that is the part that i like.

I don't see things, I just can't move... I have to shake myself, or roll... It takes a lot of concentration.

holy crap innkue - i had almost the same experience several years ago. it's happened to me twice with the same thing - a figure running up my house stairs - looked smallish like a dwarf and i had the most insane feeling of menace. couldn't move, speak, yell, etc... - i got so freaked out when i woke up, i was ready to jump into a violent reaction. hasn't happened to me in years, though. crazy! (maybe it's the ghosts of creative directors past - coming to torment us?)

I do. Not so much in the last few years, but there was a long period of time where it was happening almost nightly.
It sucks.

they say it is linked with lucid dreams some how...
i think graphic designers in particular will benefit from all the out of the world visuals from those dreams.

i get sleep paralysis when i'm having really bad episodes of vertigo. it's really scary, i feel like the blankets are crushing me, but i can't figure out which way to push to push them off of me...
