I have had this on several occasions and it is a bit frightening since you can't move yet you hear things that are not normal. From research this is common for people who are not getting enough sleep. I had it quite a bit during times when I was working really late and then going to bed. I also found out a lot of doctors are not informed about it. I went to two doctors who tried to tell me i was just dreaming. There are also myths on the net about it being related to ghosts/demons etc. That scared the crap out of me at first but then I found the factorial research.
The end resolution was to get at least 6-8 hours of sleep every night. Have not had the issue in a while.
