my parisian mate was telling me about that last night lowimpakt, he said that in general the culture in France is to exclude anyone with non-French surnames from good jobs etc.
He said it's always been like this and this is one of the root causes of all the unrest, which tends to flare up every 6 months or so but hasnt' been as prolonged as this for decades.

pascii - i think racism in France is particularly bad. More than so in Europe. Its a very French kinda arrogance and racism that makes people who do not share the same cultural traits as the land of fine wines and smelly cheese feel excluded from wider society. It's all pervasive. France has problem integrating different groups because it does not have the same Multicultural approach as the British, or the melting-pot approach as the US (not that they don't have their own racial problems). It is a FACT that North African French university graduates are FOUR TIMES more likely to be unemployed than white French graduates.

true pascii, but the Swiss don't have to deal with the massive ethnic tension as the French. I'm sure the Swiss would be just as bad, if not worse, if they had to contend with the largest Muslim population in Europe like the French do. But the French brought it on themselves with the sub-sumption of North Africa that they practiced during their colonial dayz.
