Being on the bench in a suit is ridiculous. That's like posting up in the key in a tux.

no. wearing a suit doesn't necessarily mean you have respect. It can mean you're wearing it because the guys who signs your paycheck says you have too. And seriously, to literally be sitting on a bench in a suit is ridiculous. I understand the NBA is trying to "polish" their image, but that doesn't mean that it's not ridiculous to wear a suit on the bench. I hope every NBA player bites Michael Irvin's style with this wack ass rule.

i think the nba is doing the right thing with new dress code.
the nba should send a message that being an nba player is not just about the money, but more about sportsmanship, responsibility and setting the right examples for the community especially for the younger generations.
besides, it's not like they have to wear the suit 24/7.
anyway, how are we, for the non-nba players, are effected by the dress code??

I don't think it's a matter of us being affected by the dress code directly. I just got a little bent out of shape because I hate dress codes. I can say that I will conform to dress codes in certain situations/occassions and in certain business meetings/celebrations, but that doesn't mean I enjoy it or like it. I just think suits belong on the "suits" in the big offices upstairs and sweats and shorts belong on the players on the court, if that is the attire they choose. The clothes will not change a person. They will only cast a different impression of that person to those who see those who see them in that particular attire.
