"as racist and generalized as it sounds, mr dobs, i see plenty of black folk with WIC/welfare IDs and liquor IDs at the supermarket"
so i got a serious caffine addiction and i make many a trib to the habib store in my ghetto.
shocking how may people i see using a welfare card to buy like fifty dollars worth of junk food. no lie, it happens like every time i'm in there. ...wtf.
fyi, it seems to be equal parts white, black, lationos doing this...

dobs... i want to know what the true 'purpose' is as stated by the creator of this tax...

ponyboy, if you read the article, there is a link to baker's thing.

well the lack of viable third parties and the general lack of interest in the american populace for politics are a much bigger problem really than any id card.

(Sep 20 05, 20:03)I agree, but if you are on a cross-country trip you dont replace the engine to fix the carb, you know?

ok, and in this report they're also calling for 'a voter-verifiable paper trail and improved security of voting systems' and i whole-heartedly agree with that.
So i guess Diebold didn't author this one.

what is really weird is jimmy carter is on that commission.
he got hoodwinked.
honestly, conyers has absolutely nothing but the best interest of americans at heart.
- mrdobolina0
conyers isnt a conspiracy theorist, pleeezbaleevit.
- GreedoLives0
it is a pretty evil thing to argue with tho, isn't it. basically it's 'minorities are too lazy, poor, and/or stupid to get these cards, so you can't enforce this. but at the same time we wanna keep these lazy, poor, and/or stupid folks voting'; to spell it out. But if you can't be bothered to get a card, can you be bothered to form an opinion of what's going down in this country, to make a half-educated guess about who or what you're voting for?
- mrdobolina0
ok, have this provision met, but without the id cards then. paper trail is good.
- mrdobolina0
I understand greedo, but there are many uninformed people out there.
they might not even know until election day.
not everyone is a nut like me, you know? :)

"There is likely to be less discrimination against minorities if there is a single, uniform ID, than if poll workers can apply multiple standards. In addition, we suggest procedural and institutional safeguards to make sure that the rights of citizens are not abused and that voters will not be disenfranchised because of an ID requirement. We also propose that voters who do not have a photo ID during a transitional period receive a provisional ballot that would be counted if their singature is verified."

haha no doubt about that rick. i sleep better at night knowing you're out there.
- pavlovs_dog0
how can you possible fuction in 21st century america without an ID?
- mrdobolina0
I agree pavlov, but there are voters out there that dont make any income. If you dont make income, you dont need ID.
baker is fucking evil dude, dont doubt it.
- mrdobolina0
there really is no reason for the ID, baker wants to disenfranchise voters.
one.

dobs... i don't think the reasoning behind this card is to disenfranchise 'poor people/black people' from voting.
the intentions in the commission are specifically noted for security purposes.
There was an 'smart' comparison in one of the opening paragraphs of the commision (section 2.5 Voter Identification):
"Photo IDs currently are needed to board a plane, enter federal buildings, and cash a check. Voting is equally important."
This is all 'good' reasoning to me. Conyers thinks there's an underlying agenda here... that requires a conspiracy... which makes him a conspiracist. His belief that the sole purpose of this commision's proposals are to keep black people and poor people from voting...
... that's pathetic.
- GreedoLives0
i bet a good percentage of those without ID are also not paying any taxes. So i doubt they'd happily sign on to some sort of federal registry.
- mrdobolina0
I see how they have made it look good, ponyboy. they got carter on board for all the good it might do, but the ID thing will make less democrats (typically) vote.
baker is the biggest cash whore this nation has ever seen. He doesnt do anything unless it helps rich folks.
