yeah of course there are prententious people here but there are a lot of nice cool people here too.
remember that you deserve to be here and that noone is better or cooler than you just b/c they have been here longer or know more people or any of that stuff and you'll be ok. things that are the most challenging also tend to be the most rewarding.

I've been wanting to move countries for some time now. I guess this makes me realise that it might be tough. Hope things get better for you.

I feel you kStyle, I've been here since june and it's definitely hard to make new friends etc.
I love working here though and I do like the city a lot though.
I moved from Philly where I grew up and knew so many people, it's a huge change.

what is this?
confessions of lonely new yorkers?
we need to do nyc get together soon. we should all get drunk and merry. talk about design, life, and love.
just don't hump my leg.

I know how it feels to be in a completely new place and be extremely lonely. It may not feel like it, but almost everyone has felt like that at some point.
Ultimately, if you don't like it you'll have to decide whether or not your job is the most important thing to you. Otherwise, you can leave. Easier said than done, I know.
I guess you're already going out, but try going to more social events and approaching people about their interests. I heard that people like talking about themselves. Or something.
I would totally be your friend if I lived there! But that's cause I know you from NT. I have no social skills though. I'm quite shy.
Anyway, good luck!

Oh yes, and NYC is always made out to be this cold, harsh, busy, important place. And I'm sure it's true to some extent. So maybe that's partly why it's worse for you. Unless I'm just imagining things.
