I don't mean to sound like a whiny bitch, but I'm an intern and my boss took credit for some of my work. Work that I did on my own, with out any input from my boss. They gave'em a spot bonus because the client liked the work so much.
Anyway, I'm getting over it, but is this normal?

one word: yes
two words: it sucks
three words: suck it up
four words: get used to it
five words: your work is never your work

as an intern, yes.
complete slavery it is.
enjoy.

sounds quite fucked up. but take a look at the "selfish" thread and you will realize all is well.

Sometimes it's normal. depends where you work. I stayed away from somewhere I wanted to intern because I heard they're like that.

but i would probably call my boss names, then i would puke over his pants and spit him in the face and make grunting noises while slapping my penis on his keyboard while i stare at him furiously, then if he fires me i would leave a floater so big that the FEMA needs to be called to get it solved then i would go outside and key his car and go to his house, screw his wife, shoot his dog and eat it, then i would puke it all out again and put it in the freezer and then go back to the office parking lot and shove the frozen puke through his cars window opening and scream at him from there and drop my pants and do some mooning while a plane passes by with a banner which reads: "YOUR INTERN SCREWED YOUR WIFE" and i would leave it at that.
but you know..
i think it is better i don't work for anybody but myself..heh.

if that happened to me while interning..
i'd leave..
i don't care how lowly you might be.. even as an intern.. if you did the work.. and you are RIGHT THERE and the boss says .. thanks.. i did it myself.. instead of "well it was all the work of our wonderful intern" then i'd leave..
i mean.. your boss obviously isn't worried about your structural development.. if he can't even let you enjoy a little time in the limelight..
you are forming the basis of your work relationship.. and he's doing that?
get used to it from him.. or leave.. cause he won't change..

Sounds like you got a good piece for your folio, cut your losses.

I'd ask him about it. If you dont stand up to him now he'll walk all over you in future.
He is entitled to take the credit tho if he helped you along the way.
But you have to get used to it too. Its always the producers in here who get the credit/presents from the client. Fuckers

yeah, I'm definetly gonna put some of it in my portfolio. I'm planning on leaving that place in about a month. I'm not learning much there anyway, just getting some work experience.
my boss isn't going to be there tomorrow, maybe I'll take a hefty dump in a corner near their work station. haha
I think the main thing is the spot bonus, I mean, they aren't paying me, it'd of been a nice gesture.

I say we all take a dump near our bosses workstations tomorrow!!
Who's with me!!!!!

As a Creative Director working for brands such as Porsche, Tommy Hilfiger and Volkswagen (www.qua.nl if you don't believe), you should always be credited for the creative work that you do, no matter what level of 'status' in the office.
If your creative director takes credit for your work, he simply lost his/her own creative credibility and leadership. They are the ones that should 'suck-it-up" and have the balls big enough to move over and let talent flourish.

it's character building (as the patronising expression goes). keep the faith and all will be yours. every dog has it's day and your boss will get his.
