We're working on TV spots for Jarhead. It's really good. That's all I'm not allowed to say.

FYI, you can read the book if you really want to know what it's about.

god theres something i really hate about seeing young actors playing soldiers - like jake gyllanhal, or whatever the fuck his name is - come on, really, can you see that pretty boy fag in the marines? like that dork would ever enlist! holding a rifle, lookin all mean, "scanning for the enemy" ;p - no, no its just fuckin dumb.

The militant angle Yankee entertainment is taking is scary. No less than six shows dealing with CIA/Pentagon/counterterrorism premiere this fall.

"What’s the difference between Bush and Saddam?
Sheik Ahmed Yassin, Osama Bin Laden Or Idi Amin
Fidel Castro
It seems to me they on the same team.
They hate only lead to innocent blood streams
If it’s so important
To fight for mankind
Well I don’t see none of they kinfolk
Out there on the front line."

Haha! That's awesome!

that film is just part of the machine that glorifies war to the masses, a dumbing down. I lost interest in war movies after apocalipse now, that was the end all.

I never heard a word about how we had no reason to be in vietanm after watching Full Metal Jacket.
In fact the drill sargent is the first thing that comes to most people's mind. They get a laugh out of his lines and make soundboards with it. Never had a heard or read a protest about it.

(Aug 24 05, 18:02)gfro - i think the big difference here is that the film Jarhead is being released while (*almost*) the same war in Iraq continues to be fought without reason (*imho*).

You guys really need to read the book so you know what it's actually about.
- pascii0
omg
i hope they won't show it in europe and keep that flick where it belongs.
thanks, we had enough war here

I've got to say, despite my absolute horror and anger regarding the current war in eye-rak, the jarhead book doeas actually portray a disillusioned soldier going into the first gulf war all gung-ho and towing the party line, and leaving disgusted at what he and his peers had been asked to be part of.
It's a trailer you've seen, not the film, it's going to be feel good and patriotic -that's how the studios will advertise it. but the fact ti's been made by people against the current war it might not actually be so bad.

Full Metal Jacket
is separated in 2 parts:
draft & war.
watch closely the interview in the second part/ Joker's answers and you'll see what type of "war movie" it's about.

War films are rubbish by default, after a certain age you should know better and not watch them at all.
- StratusGD0
Ah yes, Saving Private Ryan, Band of Brothers, FMJ, Apocalypse Now...should only be watched by 13yr olds, right?
::sigh::
If you don't like it, don't watch it. BTW, Republican, Japan attacked us, then Germany declared war on us. It's ok that you didn't read your history books.

everyone loves heroes.
heroes = money.

Nothing is more sad then envy mixed with ignorance.
