hmmm. i thought this was supposed to paint an ugly picture of the Gulf War... ? this trailer is looking a bit like an action-packed ad spot for recruiting Marines.
and seriously creepy set against Kanye's preaching.

..and the line between hollywood fantasy & reality continues to blur
- sherman0
looks terrible
- horton0
it's funny because i believe watching the entire film WILL leave the audience with a negative impression on the Gulf War...
but looks as though this trailer was created with some serious Hollywood-YEEHAW to draw the masses into theatres.
all the cynical tones are very very subtle.. will surely blow over most 18 year olds.

i couldnt tell if it was a comedy or a drama?

is this a movie like buffalo soldiers?
- blackspade0
so you can make a movie about the war, ..but u cant broadcast 'actual' footage of the war & soldiers
while real people give their lives, actors get rich playing their roles~ then go home to their homely comforts & family
whats next? ..the movie & game as precursers to the actual events ?
its a mindfuck to think how rediculous this whole thing is

yup... actors replaying the Gulf War on a set probably somewhere in a safe zone of Saudi (with heavy military protection i'm sure).. while the current war carries on endlessly just next door. seriously fcked.
you'ld think they could have at least saved a few million$ in pyrotechnics and shot some stunts in Iraq ;)
- blackspade0
why not use the millions to fund the best war documentary ever made
& give a real perspective
that would paint the ugly picture needed
- sherman0
because the documentary would be about blood money not about freedom and democracy.
//sounds like a documentary that only a terrorist would want to make

Trivia: Filmed in the Imperial Valley in Southern California, which features conditions very similar to Iraq. Marines did use one of the local towns, Brawley, for training purposes due to similarities to Iraq.

Will have to see it before i can Judge, but it looks like full metal jacket meets Three kings.

So what's the deal here? Let me guess. Anything that has a glimmer of making America look good makes you all angry. Iraq is like WWII all over again. Another war that was unpopular by the masses but in the end...
when will you learn?
The Germans didn't attack the US - Japan did. WWII.
Iraq didn't attack the US - Al Qaeda did.
Nothing is more sad then envy mixed with ignorance.

i wonder if michael more will make a cameo

ha... was just waiting for Republican to step in here.
seriously.. do you just selectively scan PVN for comments re. american politics... or is there a "notify me of unpatriotic discussion" check box in my NT window that i'm unaware of?

the terrorists have already won.

What about just going to the movies to be entertained and stop over thinking everything?

gfro
(Aug 24 05, 17:44)"you just hit the nail on the head.
war as entertainment
they should have a reality tv show of life in Iraq so we can be midlessly 'entertained' that way
being careful not to over-think of course ;)

I never heard a word about how we had no reason to be in vietanm after watching Full Metal Jacket.
In fact the drill sargent is the first thing that comes to most people's mind. They get a laugh out of his lines and make soundboards with it. Never had a heard or read a protest about it.
