you dont care for convergence, but most gamers (tech heads) do... that is the difference... plus MS could give a shit about gaming... its all about invading households to offer their vast amount of content from their content partners lining up one right after the other... I'm right in the middle of this shit... if anything, I should know. The main focus for MS and the Xbox is to offer its content (take cutting out the middle man like Comcast, TiVo, etc.)... and you worms think this is all about gaming... *laff*

Keyboards aren't meant to be gaming devices, they just happen to work because they've got so many damn buttons. I'm interested in seeing what Nintendo comes up with for their controller or if it'll just be another PS1-style thing.

Freddy, most people don't like convergence. They buy products for particular needs. Not multiple ones.
Convergence has become a dirty word in the tech world. Even the PSP is less of a product because of it. (not using my PSP for music, photos, sorta. Videos, well, mem sticks are still too expensive. And it will never be all that great for web browsing)
Oh, and yeah, you're "right in the middle of this shit" with Infinium Labs, right? When ARE they going to shit out their excuse for a console?
- Lesk0
hell, you cant beat the ps-1 controller, unless the use the nintendo controller but once they put in the thumbpads it will look like a ps-1 controler!?

(Aug 20 05, 17:24)Next year's E3. Ya, that's the ticket!

i have to disagree with fate on the convergence point.
ever since game boy i've wanted to do something with it besides play games (like the camera attachment), and the only thing keeping me from putting my psp in storage right now is all the crazy hacks and software i can install on it
when you're paying more than 300 bucks for a gaming device it better do something more interesting than just play games
the next gen consoles have so much fucking processing power it's just stupid. our computers don't even have that much power. why waste all of that?
- yarsrevenge0
hey fate... who the hell is freddy cause I'm not freddy. ... but anyhow, I'll have to look into infinium labs....
as for convergence.. I think you're flat wrong... times are changing... I put you in the same category as the person who told me two years ago he will never buy songs from the internet because that's just silly.. or better yet, a site should never be above 100Kb because there is no market for broadband sites...pffffft. The hell there isn't. Or here's one for you. Nobody will ever pay for a podcast... maybe not now... but trust me, it will come (if it has not yet). Point is... times change. I am part of a Research and development team of a big ass company and I happen to follow this chit with a loop and I have to report it... with whatever it holds, trust me, convergence is HUUUUGE whether you are active in it or not.. it is the only way to go.

Another argument for convergence is that gamers who grew up with the machines (I mean (S)NES and on) still game, but have homes and the trappings that come with it: DVD players, stereos, PVRs, etc. It *would* be nice to have all of this in one box. I'm sure you can do this with existing PC components, but I'm not aware of any machines dedicated to this sort of market besides the next generation game systems.

werd... we'll get there

i cant wait til i can browse the internet listening to music an cook a burrito with my washng machine/dryer that i dont have to put the wet clothes into its all one unit
yeah thats convergence and that'll be the day
