as a student I just had a 8 week holiday

different for students on holidays and what not. when you work, especially for small and mid-sized companies, the number of days you have off is limited, same with sick days which is usually like 3.
So think when you first start and for around 5 to 10 years of your work career yo only get off ~13 days per year in the US.
We're crazy, but we WORK. hehhehe
