jevad: Yeah, I'm surfing here on Long Island, NY. Lived in cali for 8ish years but actually like to surf NY better.
tehgee: Yeah I saw that thread. But if I give away my spots them my bros will kill me. Better for me to send him to the Jersey shore : )
IRNlu6: Secret spot here on LI? You bet! The winter washed the beach away so you can't drive there any more. Boat only or hike for 6 miles in sand.
F_18: Love the cove, Turtles is my favorite spot on the island. I go there when the hurricanes hit and the summer kids are to afraid to go out.
Nothing better then surfing a good wave. We'll that boob thread was pretty good though.

i always give this advise to skaters/snowboarders that want start sufing:
go on a long (two weeks or more) vacation to a mellow spot with small longbardable waves.
the reason being that for someone who is used to knowing how to ride, it can be really really frustrating. the thing is that once you can pop up and once you get used to the feeling everything falls into place.
also: you absolutely have to watch t. campbell's new movie:

I went to this camp a few years back and would recommend it to anyone.
they redesinged their site from bad to worse but the camp itself is really great. It's located in Hermosa where the waves will get nice and powerful, mainly beach breaks.

Thats sounds great gfro, no crowds! Looks like you still have some trace swell down there today.
I can't wait to get back out if we can get some waves up here during some weekend...

Had a fun morning solid 3' - 4' fast waves.
Where are you located?
I used this to check surf here:
http://www.ndbc.noaa.gov/station…Scroll to the detailed wave summary and I check Swell Height and Swell Period.

I live in Boston, surf here sometimes but mostly NH or the Cape.
I'm a surfline slut right now because I just signed up, the near shore models are amazing. Shows you the best spot and exact swell directions...
links I check the surf are;

I love the Wall when it gets big. Clean Mid incoming at 6'-8' is one of the best waves I've surfed up here. Everyone heads over to the points which are insane but they get crowded as f*ck.
damn I'm jonesing...

Hong Kong looks fun.
I lived here for 8 years. Right across the street from teh redondo Beach Breakwall, I could see this break from my front door.
