i am a dog person, but i definately worry about my neighbors' pitbull getting loose around my son.
in my opinion you have to be up on your dog training skills to have one around and i don't see too many people that put in that level of effort.

Blaw-
you are exactly right. and i'd say that before 3 weeks ago i was very hestitant when i saw one, but i met my friends dog beaubeau and he is the biggest sweetiest damn dog i've ever been around. and it's entirely because jen has the dog trained and is in control of it. but sadly you are correct, people are just fucking lazy, and it just so happen they are lazy with one of the most dangerous domesticated animals in the world. i hate people.

I dont agree with it, but after reading this graph, the people who own them in denver were asking for it:
Denver banned pit bulls in 1989 after dogs mauled a minister and killed a boy in separate attacks. The Legislature passed a law in 2004 that prohibited breed-specific bans, but the city sued and a judge ruled in April the law was an unconstitutional violation of local control.

they apparently were banned in denver for 15 years until a short time in 2004.

faretts are banned in california. what about all the farett lovers?

i've seen a usually sweet and well tempered pit snap and out of the blue bite a 4 year-old's face in the middle of a park.
i don't agree with the ban, but they are very unpredictable and strong...don't know what the answer is :(

ferrets are banned in CA?
why? because people would fight them?
- thislandslid0
so the real question: is the priest at fault or the pitbull? that would determine which "breed" needs to be eliminated

(Jul 21 05, 10:12)one of our dogs is a doberman. there are very specific rules and regimines at our house to make sure that everything is cool, because even though she's a big sweetie, dobies and kids require some extra effort.
set exercise schedule, rules specific to food and furniture, etc.
you seriously cannot screw around.

Ferrets get loose and take over local ecosystems.
- shellie0
i think because they were getting loose and killing birds. i think there was a problem with them killing a protected species.
but i love faretts. I'll train mine to attack!

shellie has ferret vs. cobra fights in her basement.

ferrets are banned because they would thrive in this environment and effect other native species.
The mongoose desimated bird populations in hawaii after it was introduced to control rat populations there.

i love dobies :)
