apparantely not around here scott, if you criticize you get blamed of having an big ego. don't know why. don't understand the logic either. maybe some people are too sensitive. wrong business though if you're too sensitive.

Sorry, I don't like any of them either - there's certainly no cohesion behind what your presenting, and frankly - I don't see the point (ho, ho) in any of them.
ps. "these design geeks"? Erm.. which fucking forum are you on?
- nessdog0
Constructive criticism is all good. It's just a shame that some people are rude about it, and then when you check out their work, it's not so hot either haha.

nice site/work Scott
Soler
(Jul 6 05, 11:24)Me?!?!?? You must be mistaken...
- nessdog0
yeah ness, those are pretty wack.
Here goes: Take #4 of nesse, and take out the green 101. the logo would look like this:
point101
101 would be green, point would be gray. done. helvetica. word up.
Soler(Jul 6 05, 11:23)
Haha yessss.

Soler:
well are you interested in designing one for me? I can spare around £100.

Sure. What's that, like 130 bucks or so? I'd spend an hour or two for that if you like.

"...when you check out their work, it's not so hot either haha."
sorry, totally forgot. you have to be better than build to be allowed to have criticism. how stupid of me.
- nessdog0
I'm not saying everyone has to be amazing to crit. You just read into that the wrong way.
If someone's work's not too hot or what you like and they offer suggestions, that's fine. Everyone is entitld to give their 2 cents. What I'm saying is... if you don't like their work, and they're suggestiong ways that they'd do it, why would you take their crit?
- brooke0
Out of these, I'd say #6 is your strongest. But perhaps you can cut down on some of the 'grittiness' of it.
- brooke0
Sorry - didn't read through the post first.
Just my 2 cents: 16—19 are your weakest.

I'm smitten with #12 but possibly #10. They seem to have the best cohesion and are most likely to work on any medium (bags, shirts, etc)

8/9 and 12/13 ...
what are you doing the 3d letters in? i like that look.
- MLP0
soler... you have any zoom out, in focus shots of your work where you can actually see it?
- tenpointtwo0
I have no idea what he did the 3D letters in, but I'd bet 100 bucks it was Swift 3D.
I like logo 4 and 6, but I think they need some work. I like your apporach to all of them, but something's missing. I like where 13 is going. Plus, it uses the camera which at least clues you in to what they do. I don't know. In all honesty, I think it needs a lot of work.
None of them do what a logo is supposed to do! They simply look cool.

MLP- I have closeups of the most interesting elemets, i concious choice I made. When I showed the entire piece it lost the integrity of what I wanted to show.
I have gotten similar feedback so I'm thinking of adding a full shot rollover or something.
Thing is- it's a work in progress and mainly a personal portfoio site to send potential employers to get a taste.
Once I'm in for an interview then they see the whole thing.

Soler
(Jul 6 05, 11:43)OK, lets make it a round $200 bucks and see what you come up with - maybe a few designs? Can pay you by paypal if u like, or whatever you prefer. I'll email you to confirm.
Might be useful to have a look at the site again if need be. It obviously needs to be in a format that is printable for my business cards etc...
One condition tho, there has to be a a general "I like it" consensus on NT. How does this sound?
Cheers matey...

nessdog, i see where you come from but in almost all cases work done by designers isn't targeted on designers, most of the time the target audience will be laymen. they have nothing to do with design yet their opinions are valued, maybe even more than experts in most cases since it has to be accepted by them in the first place. now i'm not saying designer's opinions aren't imporant or valued, they are due to experience etc, but ruling out laymen in the process is just dead wrong and missing the point. e.g. if your target audience doesn't like it / doesn't get it but yet all the designers go buckwild and rave about it it doesn't make it a good logo.

That is a good point. And interestingly enough, logo 17 and the one that has been slated, chewed up and spat out here (http://www.point101.com/point10... were the two that every "non-designer" I know liked the most over all the others.
Looking forward to see what Soler comes up with!
