nessdog, i see where you come from but in almost all cases work done by designers isn't targeted on designers, most of the time the target audience will be laymen. they have nothing to do with design yet their opinions are valued, maybe even more than experts in most cases since it has to be accepted by them in the first place. now i'm not saying designer's opinions aren't imporant or valued, they are due to experience etc, but ruling out laymen in the process is just dead wrong and missing the point. e.g. if your target audience doesn't like it / doesn't get it but yet all the designers go buckwild and rave about it it doesn't make it a good logo.
