perhaps people aren't as stupid as you think... maybe they are just apathetic... most of you turn on the news, while many americans turn on oprah. your blood pressure goes up, while americans wait in anticipation to see what crazy Tom Cruise will do next.
though, i think that the climate is changing as more and more conservatives are doing about-faces.

a) There is nothing inherently "conservative" about the current Bush admin. Economically and foreign policy they are like pre-FDR Democrats (think Wilson)
b) I'm a "liberal" and damn sick and tired of being told I don't love my country. I'm also pro-gun, think abortion should be a state's right issue and think that we should have a strong military, and as a small business owner with health care costs eating my business alive I would like to see nationalized medicine - it's good for business. SO where do I fit in Bush's America of "Patriotic good muricans" and "limp wristed liberals"? Nowhere...Thanks for "uniting the country" Georgie Boy...
c) Iraq was an unneccessary and wholly arbitrary war. Afghanistan was the right war at the right time at the right place, and Bush turned his back on it.
d) Saudi Arabia is the real enemy here - which funds the islamic extremism and denies rights AND democracy to it's people. Want democracy somewhere - how about there?
e) If they're so fond of saying 9/11, 9/11, 9/11 where the fuck is Osama Bin Laden? What you could find Sadam, but not Bin Laden?
I'm goin' be sick...

actualyl Tick i don't think this administration displays any of the Wilsonian internationalism - witness its hate of the UN compared to Wilsons establishment of the league of nations.
Moreover, it is an extremely conservative nationlistic administration in the Reagan vain, witness its religiosity, promotion of an "ideal" family value etc.. and it is not economically "un-conservative", since it is hardly promoting welfare etc..

Amazing how much hatred is spit out towards America, one way or another. I saw it firsthand, outside of the USA, even when Clinton was in office and he was a Dem.
To all the US-haters, don't act as if you wouldn't say the same things, even if Kerry would have won. And apparently, he wanted to send even more troops to Iraq.
Anyone that wants to leave USA over Bushie, fine by me. More room and besides Canada doesn't want you. try Scotland, they're open doored I'e heard.
So how did this thread fray so much from the content in the actual speech Bush gave? mrdobolina's initial point.
All the stuff I've read today has been said 50,000,000 times here.

" All the stuff I've read today has been said 50,000,000 times here"
all of bush's speeches have been said 50,000,000 times before. That is the point.
You may disagree, but people need to talk about this shit.

what hatred Jaz?

Admitedly, I've got some views that lean to the more conservative side....though many should understand, I'm a parent,...we're sometimes over protective. All I can say about that is get over it.
Anyway, lately I've been leaning more liberal and the more I thnk about it, the more I'm glad i didn't vote for the shrub.
None the less....I'm more worried about going on vacation to Cozumel next week and having one of my kids snatched up than I am about us getting another 9/11 style attack.
- mrdobolina0
xaos, what are your conservative views?
- ********0
Kuz - what I was doing when com[paring it to Wilson's admin was basically saying that the Bush admin operates like the US has moral authority to use military power and force to support moral/ethical goals - something that is certainly NOT a conservative value and som, thing that was VERY much in the liberal camp which liberal commanders got hell for prior - think Clinton in Kosova or Somalia - the conservatives ripped it apart asking what our national interest was, that the US wasn't a global cop, etc...
Nationalism isn't nesseccarily a right wing tactic - the left has used it as well. Nor is the use of a religiuos justification - that can be used by right or left wing nutjobs.
Where the Bush admin jumps ship is that they are certainly NOT conservative in regards to federal spending - they've outspent most democratic admins as % of budget - for years now. Nothing inherently conservative about that...

can't we all just get on?

mrdobolina, the point is and you know as well, this will just turn into fighting, based upon opinions, not always facts. Human nature, imo.
Was there something special about that speech or the same old crap he always says? BTW, I'm in no way supporting Bush, just interesting to see people's viewpoints.
Kuz, maybe hatred is too strong word, however, a general dislike existed even before Bushie. I've always wondered why, not so much people, as most people I've encountered liked me (why I don't know, tee hee), but the country as a whole. Was it for some ulterior motive or just popular opinion that the US is bad? If the masses didn't like the US with Clinton, a widely popular president here, will they ever like the US?
- SteveJobs0
mrdob, when have these needed talks on nt ever been constructive? all i see is a bunch of bitter euros and liberal americans talking about what a crock bush is, as many armchair activists do...
jazx is simply pointing out that you are beating a dead horse.
