Benn out of a design job for 6 months now and feeling super discouraged...I've been upgrading my skills, doing a few freelance jobs here and there but I swear i must have sent out over a 100+ resumes and no calls back my resume is solid my site is that bad...maybe its my cover letter Ive always hated those...what should i do besides a career change which i think will happen soon.

i have found that resume's are utterly useless.
your portfolio is your strongest asset, so make sure its super solid.
post it up for a crit, it may help...
there are opps out there man, lots of them, don't give up!

your site looks nice, and the 1 piece you have in it also looks nice...
but it helps to have more than just 1 piece in your folio, mate :)

A lot of those other links didn't work and "selected works" isn't obvious enough. Even with those projects, I get the feeling you need more content. And probably a better explanation of your skills for the non-creative people who visit your site.

your resume also please
